Emmerdale airs deadly confrontation between Cain Dingle and Robert Sugden with devastating consequences in early ITVX release

The Dingle family has been a part of Emmerdale for over thirty years, and we’ve learned one thing for sure: it’s best not to cross them. They’re a famously wild and unpredictable bunch.

Unfortunately, if you’re name’s Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), you’re currently in their firing line.

Throughout his life, he’s done many wrong things, and recently he falsely accused Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) of serious crimes – human trafficking and murder. This all started because Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) had been blackmailing him with a video showing Victoria Sugden (Isobel Hodgins) accidentally killing her half-brother, John (Oliver Farnworth).

Joe secretly wanted to take control of Butler’s Farm, which was both Moira’s home and her livelihood. She was hesitant at first, but her feelings shifted when she discovered her husband, Cain (Jeff Hordley), had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Robert is currently living and working as a farmer at Butler’s Farm, which he has renamed Emmerdale Farm. Meanwhile, Joe has cut down the tree planted in memory of Moira’s daughter, and the Dingle family is attempting to start a new farming business now that Moira is out of prison.

Cain realized his wife was acting strangely, and she eventually confessed that Robert and Joe were responsible for her being put in prison.

He wasn’t pleased, but remained calm while Robert worried about what would happen next. He also had surgery to remove his prostate, and now needs to use a catheter.

I was so relieved to hear he finally got out of the hospital yesterday! He really showed everyone he could get back on his feet all by himself. And today? Well, today he made it clear he’s ready to get even with whoever wronged him.

Robert was busy working on the farm while his partner, Aaron Dingle, went to work elsewhere near Hotten. Aaron explained the job would take a while, so he wouldn’t be home for lunch.

Far off, Sam Dingle (James Hooten) was hiding with a shovel. He rushed towards Robert and hit him on the head with it. When Robert came to, he found himself tied to a chair in the kitchen.

Cain confronted Robert, pressing him for explanations while holding a hammer. Robert avoided giving a complete account, omitting key details, and still didn’t clarify how Joe had convinced him to participate.

Realizing things were about to become dangerous, Robert immediately brought up Vic’s problem, but Cain knocked him down. The hammer slipped across the floor, and just as Cain reached for it, he fell to the ground in pain.

I was on the edge of my seat! Robert immediately got him to the hospital, and it wasn’t long before Moira and Aaron noticed something was seriously wrong – they were both missing, and everyone knew it was bad.

Cain went to the infirmary and told Moira about the incident, admitting he enjoyed frightening Robert.

However, it seemed like this was only the beginning of his revenge…

Someone wearing a hood started a fire by setting hay bales ablaze near the barn on Emmerdale Farm. Could Cain be responsible?
