Emmerdale airs two major secrets exposed for Tate family in early ITVX release

Today’s Emmerdale continues the dramatic story from yesterday, where Joe Tate tried to convince his fiancée, Dawn, not to leave.

Dawn was trying to begin a fresh start, moving away from the village she’d always known. She finally understood she couldn’t keep trying to trick the wealthy millionaire.

She was plotting revenge, getting help from the Dingle family, who Joe had deeply wronged. He had forced Robert Sugden to hide fake passports belonging to exploited workers in Moira Dingle’s house, resulting in Moira being wrongly imprisoned for human trafficking for several months.

When she was finally released, he had seized control of her farm and, shockingly, cut down the tree she’d planted in memory of her daughter, Holly.

Dawn originally intended to marry Joe and then take his money, but as he became increasingly affectionate towards her and their baby, she started to wonder if she should go through with her plan.

Joe discovered her plan and realized he needs to be honest with her if he wants her to stay. He’s decided to stop keeping secrets.

During a dramatic confrontation, he revealed that when he visited Home Farm at Christmas 2024, he learned Dawn’s father, Will, was plotting to ruin Kim Tate (played by Claire King) and even intended to cause her death.

A heated argument broke out, and Will collapsed, clutching his chest. Kim first believed he was pretending to have a heart attack to avoid facing the music, but by the time she called for an ambulance, he had died.

Dawn was shocked, and Joe suddenly realized he’d spoken to her with complete honesty for the very first time.

At the same time, Graham Foster confessed a shocking truth to Kim: he was the person who attempted to harm her earlier in the year.

As viewers may remember, Kim became ill during dinner with the Dingles, initially thought to be from eating poisonous mushrooms. However, doctors later discovered she had actually taken too many painkillers.

Graham confessed he wasn’t angry with her anymore and had gotten over wanting to harm her. She realized the situation was a little funny – likely because she felt the same way about him – and they both ended up laughing about it in the kitchen.

Joe was surprised to see them laughing, but Graham explained he’d learned the importance of being honest.

Dawn realized that Joe’s questionable actions were all motivated by a desire to improve things for his family. Joe was worried she might still leave, but she reassured him she was staying, provided he met certain expectations.

She simply wanted him to be himself, without any more unexpected twists or upsets. And she hoped the conflict with the Dingles would finally end.

Joe swore to make everything right, but can he keep to his promise?

Is this a new beginning for the Tates?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX.
