*Warning – contains major spoilers for The Boys season 5 episodes 1-5.*
We’ve now seen five episodes of The Boys season 5, with just three more instalments remaining.
The show has already seen some significant characters die, which wasn’t unexpected – showrunner Eric Kripke had been hinting at major deaths for a while.
Before the fifth season began, he explained to SFX Magazine that the show would feature a real struggle with significant losses. He felt it wouldn’t be believable if everyone survived, expressing frustration with sci-fi shows where characters face huge dangers but suffer no consequences. He warned viewers not to become too invested in any one character, hinting that some wouldn’t make it through.
Okay, so who actually died in The Boys Season 5? I’ve put together a complete rundown of all the major characters who didn’t make it. Let’s dive in and see who bit the dust.
Every major death in The Boys season 5 so far
A-Train

One of the most shocking deaths of the season, and the entire series so far, happened right in the first episode when Jessie T. Usher’s character, A-Train, died.
Homelander killed him after he stumbled while trying to avoid hitting a pedestrian. This showed a significant change from the first episode, where he carelessly ran into and killed Hughie’s girlfriend, Robin.
Just before Homelander killed him, A-Train provoked him with insults, claiming that without his powers, Homelander was nothing but a pathetic and weak failure.
Love Sausage

The rivalry between Love Sausage and Mother’s Milk ended in the first episode of The Boys’ fifth season when Mother’s Milk confronted and fought Love Sausage at Freedom Camp.
Ultimately, MM fatally attacked Love Sausage, repeatedly stabbing him in the groin with a shard of wood and then strangling him. It was a brutal and disturbing conclusion.
Jetstreak

A new character for season 5, Jetstreak, a member of the supe team Teenage Kix, didn’t last long.
During the second episode, he and Soldier Boy pursued The Boys down into Rock Hard’s basement, and Frenchie unleashed the virus designed to kill superpowered individuals.
It was brutal seeing Jetstreak and Rock Hard go down, but Soldier Boy somehow made it through. Turns out, the V1 in his system basically makes him immortal, which is a pretty crazy twist and explains how he survived when the others didn’t.

Rock Hard, a superhero whose skin resembled stone, appeared in season 5, episode 2, but tragically died in that same episode.
Like Jetstreak, he was subdued by Frenchie releasing the virus.
Maverick

Maverick, the son of the character Translucent (who died early in the series The Boys), was first seen briefly at his father’s funeral in season 2. He later became a main character in the spin-off series Gen V, where he attends God U as a student.
Maverick returned in Season 5, Episode 2, and it was revealed he’d been staying with Stan Edgar. Edgar had manipulated Maverick into thinking Homelander was responsible for his father’s death, when it was actually Hughie.
Initially, he teamed up with The Boys to fight against The Deep, Black Noir, Cindy, and Dogknott. But after The Deep told him the real story, he switched sides and turned against The Boys.
In the end, he was accidentally pulverised by Cindy when she was trying to kill Hughie.
Cindy

Cindy had been a powerful enemy for The Boys since the second season, and she was finally killed in the second episode of season five. She died while attempting to rescue Stan Edgar alongside The Deep, Black Noir, and Dogknott.
While attempting to kill Hughie, Cindy mistakenly killed Maverick. Thinking Hughie was dead, Annie swiftly broke Cindy’s neck from behind, killing her immediately.
Quinn

We first encounter Quinn in season 5, episode 4. He’s a former US soldier who participated in the V1 trials with Soldier Boy back in the 1940s.
Though they were rivals in the past, they met again recently. Soldier Boy discovered Quinn back at Fort Harmony, where Quinn’s plant-based abilities were causing him to merge with the building’s structure.
The powers were making The Boys incredibly angry, leading to a violent fight where they almost killed each other. Frenchie, however, wasn’t affected. To end the conflict, he talked Soldier Boy into using his power-draining beam on Quinn, which ultimately killed him.
Adam Bourke

Adam Bourke, a director at Vought Films, had been with the show since its second season and was a consistent presence throughout its run.
In season 5, episode 5, he was directing a play and didn’t realize one of the actors was actually the new Black Noir, who wasn’t in costume at the time.
During a conflict with Noir, and seeking payback for Bourke interrupting his ad-libbed lines during the filming of ‘Dawn with The Seven,’ The Deep attempted to have Bourke killed in a shocking manner. He sent an eel, which entered Bourke’s body through his anus while he was using the toilet, resulting in a gruesome death.
Malchemical

In the fifth episode of season 5, Homelander and Soldier Boy pursued a new clue about V1, leading them to Los Angeles. There, they encountered Mister Marathon, a former member of The Seven.
He didn’t have a V1, but mentioned that Bombsight, Soldier Boy’s old teammate, did and he’d reach out to him. While they waited, they discovered Mister Marathon was holding a poker game at his place, with a bunch of famous actors – Will Forte, Craig Robinson, Kumail Nanjiani, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Seth Rogen – plus a superhero named Malchemical.
It was shocking to watch, but Malchemical, under the guise of assisting Homelander, actually managed to knock him unconscious by somehow manipulating the gases in his lungs. Then, incredibly, he attempted to goad Soldier Boy into finishing Homelander off – it was a really twisted move, honestly.
After getting used to Homelander, Soldier Boy refused to cooperate and instead killed Malchemical by breaking his neck.
Will Forte, Craig Robinson, Kumail Nanjiani, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Seth Rogen

During a poker night at Mister Marathon’s home, actors Will Forte, Kumail Nanjiani, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Seth Rogen, and Craig Robinson unexpectedly got involved when Soldier Boy started battling Mister Marathon.
Okay, so picture this: there’s this super-fast guy, Mister Marathon, and he’s battling Soldier Boy, right? But the whole fight is happening inside a movie set. The problem is, he’s so fast that he keeps accidentally running through the actors, and… well, let’s just say it’s not a good day for anyone on set. It’s a crazy visual – he’s trying to win, but keeps wiping out the whole cast!
Mister Marathon

Mister Marathon, working with Malchemical, attempted to get Soldier Boy to kill Homelander. When Soldier Boy wouldn’t agree, a fight broke out, and Mister Marathon unintentionally caused the deaths of all the celebrities who were at his home.
Finally, Soldier Boy intentionally caused Mister Marathon to fall, breaking both his feet, and then forced him to admit that Bombsight really did possess the V1.
A now-revived Homelander then stomped on Mister Marathon’s face, killing him instantly.
Firecracker

Firecracker, a prominent member of The Seven and first appearing in season four, was initially a strong supporter of Homelander. However, she began to doubt him when he started claiming to be a god, as she was a devout and steadfast Christian.
She ultimately agreed to his plans, but it wasn’t enough to hide her reservations. Homelander detected her uncertainty, and his father, Soldier Boy – with whom she was having an affair – had already told him about it.
He initially tried to get her removed from The Seven, but when she begged him and told him she loved him, he chose to end things definitively by fatally injuring her against an angel statue.
