After 16 years, Family Guy is hinting at a new Star Wars crossover! The show returns to Fox this spring with Season 24, and fans can expect more than just new episodes. With recent specials and a spin-off series already in development, Family Guy is planning another special event – this time, a return to the galaxy far, far away.
The Family Guy trilogy that parodied the original Star Wars films was a huge hit, and fans have been hoping for more crossovers ever since. For 16 years, nothing new happened, but now Hulu has released a teaser hinting at another Family Guy and Star Wars collaboration to coincide with the release of Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu later this month. You can see a sneak peek of the upcoming crossover below.
Family Guy Teases The Mandalorian & Grogu Crossover

Hulu is building excitement for May the 4th, the annual Star Wars celebration, hinting that something special is coming to Spooner Street. While details are still under wraps, it’s expected to be released around May 22nd, when The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters. The crossover could range from a brief promotional clip to a longer, exclusive special, similar to those Hulu has released during past holidays.
Whether you’re a fan or not, this is noteworthy because Family Guy hasn’t done a major parody of Star Wars since 2010. Their last crossover was a three-part special that hilariously retold the stories of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. Those episodes were full of running gags, like the title of the final special, “Something, Something, Something Dark Side,” and are still considered some of the best sci-fi content the show has ever produced.
Why Has Family Guy Avoided Star Wars for 16 Years?
When the Star Wars parody trilogy originally aired, it was a hit with fans of both Star Wars and Family Guy. However, that was the last time the two franchises connected. During the final parody special, Peter Griffin joked that the show wouldn’t bother making fun of the Star Wars prequel films, and the creators have stuck to that decision ever since, even with all the new Star Wars movies and TV shows released over the years. This was largely due to a strained relationship with Disney at the time.
Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy, previously said it was more challenging to work with Disney after they bought LucasFilm. However, things seem to have improved over the past ten years now that both Family Guy and Star Wars are owned by the same company. While this new crossover probably won’t be a full-blown parody episode, it’s still a really exciting event.
