Good news! A huge free update for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is now available. It includes lots of new content, like Ring Out battles from Real Bout Fatal Fury and a brand-new story mode presented as a visual novel.
This update is quite large – 31GB – so plan to set aside enough time to download it before you start playing.
Season Pass owners can also nab returning villain Wolfgang Krauser and put him through his paces.
SNK is celebrating the first anniversary of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves with a free update on April 24th. The update includes a new story mode presented in a visual novel style.
A new single-player mode called Wolves’ Destiny is being released with the Wolfgang Krauser DLC. It tells the story of Krauser’s return to South Town and his continuing battle for power against Kain R. Heinlein.
This story will be fully narrated with voice acting, and feature 150 brand-new illustrations to show what’s happening. It’s not a traditional animated cutscene like in some fighting games, but more like a playable manga. It expands on the existing RPG-style ‘Episodes of South Town’ mode, giving players more single-player content in this SNK fighting game than ever before.
The next update will also feature a redesigned user interface to simplify moving between different game modes. A new feature called the Fighter’s Hub will act as a central location to view your stats and customize your online match preferences.
Kain is receiving a new costume based on the Wolves’ Destiny story arc. Plus, a new train station stage is being added, and it will include Ring Outs – a popular request from fans that last appeared in the 1995 game Real Bout Fatal Fury.
To make things even better, SNK is separating the main game from its downloadable content and lowering the price. Now, you can start playing for just $19.99. A “Legends Edition” will still be offered, which includes both Season 1 and Season 2 content for $49.99.
Despite a few minor flaws, this game is a great value, especially considering its low price and the incredible amount of support SNK is providing after its release. The core game already offers a huge amount of content, and the fighting itself is excellent, making it a title you shouldn’t miss.
