Feature: 15 PS5 Games from Last Week’s Livestreams We’re Dying to Play

Man, after watching all the big livestreams last week, I realized there are just so many awesome PS5 games out there. Seriously, there’s way more than I could ever actually find the time to play!

We could have easily listed three or four times as many games we’re excited about, but we decided to focus on the 15 that genuinely got us most enthusiastic. It was a difficult choice, though!

Let’s jump right in and take a look at the games that stood out to us. Don’t forget to tell us about your favorites in the comments!

Alien Isolation 2

This review is based on potential, as the trailer for Alien: Isolation 2 didn’t reveal much gameplay. However, the original game is still excellent after over ten years, and I’m hoping the sequel delivers a similar, thrilling experience on PS5. – Liam

Bancho the Chef

I was really excited to see the announcement of a Bancho-focused prequel to Dave the Diver! Bancho is already such a great character, so a game all about him sounds fantastic. The trailer looks amazing and hints at the same quirky mix of cooking and other fun gameplay that made the original Dave the Diver so enjoyable. It might not be the biggest announcement out there, but I’m already looking forward to playing it. – Stephen

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

I was really surprised by Modern Warfare 4, especially the DMZ mode shown at the Xbox Showcase. I haven’t been a fan of Call of Duty lately, but this extraction mode feels like exactly the kind of immersive multiplayer experience I enjoy, and I’m excited to play it with friends. – Aaron

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation

Okay, so you guys know I’ve been pretty critical of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, right? I haven’t loved some of the story directions and honestly, it’s felt a bit bloated. But the recent reveal of ‘Rebirth’ totally grabbed my attention. They’re promising way more freedom and deeper gameplay, and I’m starting to think this might be the game that finally makes the whole Remake idea click for me. I’m even considering replaying the previous two games to get ready! Seriously, Square Enix, you’ve got me hooked this time.

Gen Atlas

Fumito Ueda has a remarkable track record with games like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, so I’m completely on board with his new project, Gen Atlas – an action adventure game with massive robots. While details are still scarce, the recent trailer showcased an incredibly captivating atmosphere and world. I’m really excited to explore the game’s landscape, control the giant robots, and discover its secrets, even if it runs at 27 frames per second – that’s just Ueda’s signature style. [Stephen]

God of War Laufey

As a huge God of War fan, I was seriously hyped when they announced the new game! After playing through those incredible Norse adventures with Kratos, I’m really fascinated by the idea of finding out what happened to Faye and what the afterlife looks like for gods and magical creatures. I’m definitely craving a faster, more action-packed experience with that signature God of War feel, and honestly, that 20-minute intro just left me with a ton of questions I need answers to. Bring it on!

Gundam Rogue Orbit

The initial trailer didn’t immediately feel like a Gundam game, except for the V-shaped head, which actually makes Gundam Rogue Orbit even more interesting. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a high-quality Gundam game, and I’m really looking forward to learning more about this fast-paced action title. I’m curious about the game’s scale, story, and what ‘Rogue Orbit’ refers to. Finally, Gundam fans like me have something new to anticipate. [Rob]

Marvel’s Wolverine

I’m surprised to see some negativity surrounding Marvel’s Wolverine, especially considering Insomniac’s track record. I don’t expect a revolutionary action game, but I do anticipate a fun, comic book-style adventure – and Insomniac has consistently delivered those for years. The gameplay looks great, with fluid movement and combat. Plus, after enjoying their excellent 007 First Light, I’m excited for another focused, single-player story – which is exactly what many of us have been hoping Sony would deliver.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

As a longtime Onimusha fan, I was excited when the series was revived, but the recent State of Play presentation really got me hooked on Way of the Sword. It wasn’t just the trailer—the fact that they released a playable demo for PS5 is what truly blew me away. I’ve already played the demo five times, and I’m incredibly eager to play the full game. It’s an understatement to say I’m looking forward to it! – Rob

Resident Evil Veronica

I spent my childhood playing Resident Evil games on the PlayStation 1 and 2, specifically Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and Code Veronica – those are the ones I remember most. So, I’m really thrilled to see Code Veronica being remade for the PS5. It seems Capcom is giving themselves more creative freedom with this remake, meaning it probably won’t be a strict recreation of the original. But it’s still a Resident Evil game, and that’s all I need to be excited about. – Liam

The Lost Wild

The biggest surprise from the recent State of Play presentation for me was definitely The Lost Wild, a first-person horror game featuring dinosaurs. I don’t know much about it, but honestly, that’s okay – dinosaurs and horror is a combination I’m really excited about! – Aaron

The Wolf Among Us 2

Many fans, like me, began to worry that The Wolf Among Us 2 might be canceled, especially since it was announced eight years ago. Plus, almost none of the original developers are still working on it. But despite that, I’m still excited about the game and its incredible world created by Bill Willingham. I’m really looking forward to playing as Sheriff Bigby Wolf, solving mysteries, and embracing his more primal side. – Aaron

Silent Hill: Townfall

The Silent Hill series is making a strong comeback after the successes of Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill F. The new installment, Silent Hill: Townfall, is taking a fresh approach with experimental gameplay, now presented in first-person perspective and set in Scotland. Despite these changes, the game promises to maintain the series’ signature suspenseful atmosphere, and I anticipate it will be a standout title.

Stuntman: Hollywood

I always loved the idea behind the original Stuntman on PlayStation 2, so I’m really excited Saber is bringing it back. Updating the gameplay was all it needed, and I think linking it to popular licenses like Back to the Future and Knight Rider is brilliant. It’s going to be a blast recreating iconic movie and TV moments! Honestly, this game seems obvious, and I’m surprised it hasn’t been made until now. [Sammy]

Virtua Fighter Crossroads

I’ve been a huge fan of Shenmue for years, and Virtua Fighter was a big part of my early gaming experiences. The creator of Shenmue, Yu Suzuki, originally planned for Ryo Hazuki’s story to be a role-playing game based on Virtua Fighter, and the new game, Crossroads – made by RGG Studio – seems to be bringing that idea to life. While the fighting looks great, what really excites me is the large single-player adventure. I really enjoyed the World Tour mode in Street Fighter 6, and this looks like an even more impressive version, created by a team known for crafting engaging stories.
