Instead, what was anticipated as a full remake update, Square Enix unveiled a captivating new Final Fantasy 9 photo book focusing on the enriched history of character Vivi.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but express my deep affection for one of the game’s most cherished and visually striking companions – Vivi. This young, inexperienced mage embarks on a personal odyssey, seeking self-discovery. His character progression, in my opinion, is unrivaled in its emotional resonance as he grapples with his past and the significance of his adventures.
The given text describes Vivi as a somewhat enigmatic young boy who was rescued from the sea by Grandpa Quan, an enthusiast striving to perfect his culinary skills.
After Grandpa Quan understands that Vivi isn’t something to eat, he starts caring for Vivi and educating him about the world. Over time, they build a tranquil existence filled with delightful meals and companionship. Eventually, the day comes for Vivi to leave, marking the end of their shared journey.
This 48-page hardcover book was penned by Kazuhiko Aoki, who designed events for Final Fantasy 9, and beautifully illustrated by Toshiyuki Itahana, the game’s talented character designer. The price is set at $17.99 / 16.99€.
Just recently, Itahana crafted some stunning new artwork for the title’s 25th anniversary.
Although the book is not due for publication until around a year from now, specifically on May 19th, 2026, it’s important to note that it’s currently unavailable.
