Now that Forza Horizon 6 is finished and ready for release, Playground Games has revealed the graphics settings for Xbox Series X/S. Players can choose between ‘Quality’ and ‘Performance’ modes. On the Xbox Series X, ‘Quality’ mode will run the game in native 4K resolution at 30 frames per second, with improved visual details.
Performance Mode doesn’t look quite as detailed, but that’s intentional – it focuses on running the game at a consistent 60 frames per second. To achieve this, the resolution adjusts automatically. We’ll need to test it to see how much the image quality decreases during complex, action-packed moments.
Xbox Series S owners can choose between two graphics modes: Quality mode aims for a sharper picture at 1440p resolution with a frame rate of 30 frames per second, while Performance mode prioritizes smoother gameplay at 1080p and 60 frames per second. To maintain these frame rates, both modes will automatically adjust the resolution as needed.
If you want the best possible graphics in this open-world racing game, the PC version is the way to go. While the ‘Extreme RT’ setting – with ray tracing, upscaled 4K, and a frame rate of 60 or higher – demands a powerful computer, achieving native 4K resolution with similar performance on the highest quality settings is quite achievable.
The latest installment in the racing series, Forza Horizon 6, will be available on Xbox Series X/S and PC starting May 19th. PlayStation 5 players can expect the game to arrive later in 2024.
