While Gears of War is known for its story, world, and campaign, it’s also a game best enjoyed with friends. That’s why we’re excited to introduce Bravo Squad in E-Day, featuring new characters Mags Carter and Lucas Reyes alongside the returning favorites, Marcus and Dom, for a great co-op experience.
The campaign will let up to four players team up online, and two players can still play together locally via split-screen. Multiplayer is getting four new modes and maps, sticking with the traditional, balanced Gears style. If you found the original games’ close-quarters combat intense, the new sliding mechanic might make things even faster and more frantic.
The biggest draw is definitely Horde mode, and it’s been significantly expanded. Now, up to 12 players split into three squads can cooperate to battle the Locust in a variety of city environments with Horde Siege. The Coalition will share more specifics soon, and they’ve also committed to ongoing support after launch, including a seasonal content plan and the option to unlock everything through gameplay challenges.
Gears of War: E-Day launches on October 6th for Xbox Series X/S and PC, costing $69.99. Players can test the multiplayer beforehand during open beta weekends this summer. For those eager to start even earlier, the Premium Edition offers five days of early access.
