On July 10th at 2 PM Pacific Time, Sucker Punch Productions and Sony have officially scheduled their next State of Play event, which will delve into the gameplay mechanics of Ghost of Yōtei. The creative directors, Jason Connell and Nate Fox, will be hosting this session, providing approximately 20 minutes of gameplay footage for viewers.
Previously, we’ve learned that protagonist Atsu aims to avenge her family by defeating the Yōtei Six. The State of Play event will also reveal fresh weapon options, ways for players to tailor their adventure experience, unique game modes, and more exciting features. Notably, while various weapons like the kusarigama, odachi, firearms, and yari are available, the katana remains highly prized.
It’s quite possible we’ll uncover additional details about gameplay aspects like vegetable gathering and how it ties into the freedom to camp anywhere on earth. Sucker Punch emphasized that this world will be their largest yet, but they also aim to offer players greater narrative control and steer clear of repetition common in this genre.
The spectral figure of Yōtei makes its debut on October 2nd, exclusively for PlayStation 5. If you’re eager to secure a copy, pre-ordering is currently an option – take a look at the Collector’s Edition (along with some fresh glimpses) right here.
