However, the film’s impressive production quality – making it Apple TV’s most ambitious project to date – is hard to miss.

I was really impressed with the actors in Fountain of Youth! John Krasinski is just so charming as Luke Purdue, the playful treasure hunter. And Natalie Portman is fantastic as his sister, Charlotte – she’s a great contrast to his more carefree personality. Then there’s the actress playing Esme, who’s incredibly captivating and a bit intimidating as she follows them on their journey – she really adds to the excitement!

Characters like Owen Carver, played by Domhnall Gleeson, and Jamal Abbas, played by Arian Moayed, fit into familiar character types, but they still provide some entertaining scenes.

Will Fountain of Youth 2 Happen?

Even though critics didn’t love the movie, that’s not as important for films released directly on streaming. While reviews were weak, the film proved very popular with Apple TV+ viewers. Because of this success, Apple should definitely consider making a sequel to Guy Ritchie’s action-adventure hit.

As a big fan of the Fountain of Youth movies, I found it really clever how they set things up for a sequel with Eiza González’s character, Esme. Throughout the first film, she seems like she’s against the Purdues, constantly pursuing them. But then, it’s revealed she’s actually working for this secret global organization – they’re dedicated to protecting historical treasures from people who want to exploit them for the wrong reasons. It’s a great twist and leaves you wanting more!

Stanley Tucci has a quick appearance as Esme’s boss, hinting that his character might return in future movies. The film concludes by suggesting the Purdues will have more adventures, but so far, those sequels haven’t happened.

Apple is considering a sequel to Fountain of Youth, but the high production costs are the main obstacle. The original film was visually impressive, which helped its success, but creating those effects was expensive. Fountain of Youth reportedly cost Apple around $180 million to produce, and it’s challenging to recoup that much money through streaming.

Because of the high costs of making these films, any future installments might need to be released in cinemas to earn back their money. However, Apple hasn’t confirmed anything about the franchise’s future, so it’s unclear if there will be sequels.
