Bad news! Bitmap Bureau’s retro-style beat-’em-up, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction, which was scheduled to release on April 28th, has been delayed.
But now it’s been delayed until a nebulous date in the summer!
Limited Run Games announced on X (formerly Twitter) that while their licensed fighting game is almost finished, it still needs a bit more development time.
They promised players would soon be able to experience the world of Eternia as He-Man, Teela, Man-At-Arms, and She-Ra, with classic arcade-style gameplay.
You can read its full statement below:
Bitmap Bureau, a UK-based game studio, has been very productive. They recently released the well-received Terminator 2D: No Fate, and while a separate team likely worked on this new project, releasing two games so close together is quite an accomplishment.
The new Masters of the Universe movie comes out this June, and it’s possible the game’s release is timed to coincide with it, hoping to boost sales for both.
Since it’s already April, any delay will likely be relatively short – probably just a month or two.
We played this game at Gamescom and immediately loved its retro pixel art and old-school arcade feel. We’re excited to see the finished version when it releases this summer.
