The 2024 action movie The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which starred Henry Cavill and Alan Ritchson, is coming to Peacock next month.
The streaming service has announced that The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare will be available starting May 18th. The movie is inspired by Damien Lewis’s book, Churchill’s Secret Warriors, and offers a fictionalized, action-packed, and comedic take on a real WWII operation called Operation Postmaster. The film’s title reflects the unit’s unconventional and daring approach to combat.
Ritchie’s 2024 War Film Amped Up The Action & Suspense
Inspired by a true story and drawing from recently unclassified British war documents, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare tells the tale of a highly secretive wartime unit. This crew, made up of unconventional and rebellious individuals, fought the Nazis using unique and often unorthodox methods. While the film takes creative liberties with the facts, its basis in real events is a significant part of its appeal.
I’ve been checking out what people are saying about The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, and it’s getting pretty good reviews! Critics on Rotten Tomatoes give it a ‘Fresh’ rating of 68% – they say it’s a really exciting action movie, though maybe not super suspenseful. But honestly, audiences seem to love it even more – over 90% of people who’ve reviewed it give it a positive rating, based on more than a thousand reviews!
I’ve been reading what others are saying about The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, and a lot of people really enjoyed it – especially knowing it’s based on a true story! It’s a shame though, because despite the positive reviews, it didn’t seem to do very well in theaters.
When The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare hit theaters in 2024, it earned just $29.8 million globally, which was a letdown given its $60 million production cost. The film didn’t have much competition from other releases, appearing alongside Kung Fu Panda 4 and Spy x Family Code: White. Even so, it only brought in $9 million during its opening weekend, landing it in fourth place.
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’s Arrival on Peacock is a Chance for Redemption
Even though The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare didn’t perform strongly in theaters, its release on Peacock offers a chance for the film to earn back some money. Previously, it was only available to buy or rent in the United States, so adding it to Peacock will create a new way for people to watch and generate revenue.
Ritchie’s most recent movie, released in May 2025, became a big hit on streaming platforms. It quickly rose to the top of the charts and remained popular on Apple TV. He’s already planning two more films for 2026: an action thriller called In The Grey, which will again feature Henry Cavill, and a dark comedy titled Wife & Dog.
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare arrives on Peacock on May 18.
