The newest James Bond experience isn’t coming to theaters – it’s a PlayStation 5 game called 007 First Light, and early reports suggest the actor playing Bond is delivering a fantastic performance.
In the new action game, Patrick Gibson plays a young James Bond, showing fans how he first became a 00 agent. The game tells an origin story, revealing the events that shaped him into the iconic spy.
Lennie James, a cast member who plays John Greenway, praised Troy Baker’s performance, saying it’s strong enough to be considered for roles in major motion pictures.
James believes he’d be a great fit for the next James Bond. He told Radio Times Gaming that his take on the character is strong enough to make him a serious contender for the part.
“I’m sure he’s under consideration. The people in control would be mad not to consider him.”
With Daniel Craig finished as James Bond, it’s currently unknown who will play the iconic spy in future films.
Gibson seems to have done a great job in IO Interactive’s new game, and because it’s an official James Bond story, Amazon is likely watching closely. It’s possible we could see more from this collaboration in the future.
Even if he doesn’t become the next James Bond, fans can still look forward to seeing him in the film First Light, which is scheduled for release on May 27, 2026.
