Sandra Bullock has no blind side when it comes to how she wants to spend her time.
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Sandra Bullock actually said that Practical Magic 2 – her first movie in FOUR years, can you even?! And the sequel to the original with Nicole Kidman?! – only happened because her kids, Louis and Laila, were out of school during filming! Seriously, it’s like the universe aligned! She needed them to be free so she could make this movie, and I’m just…living for it! It’s the sequel we’ve all been waiting for, and it almost didn’t happen! I’m so glad her family schedule worked out; we NEED this movie!
During a panel discussion at CNBC’s Changemakers Summit on April 16th, Sandra stated she wouldn’t cut back on time spent with her children, emphasizing that she prioritizes being present for them. She added, with feeling, that her kids would actually prefer she wasn’t around, but that wasn’t something she would ever do.
She also mentioned that being separated from her children for an extended period would have impacted her ability to deliver a good performance in the film.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve learned that my creativity and focus truly thrive when my kids are happy and secure. Honestly, when they’re facing challenges or need my support and I can’t provide it, it’s incredibly difficult for me to do my best work. My priority is my children, and I’m dedicated to nurturing them – that’s where my energy needs to be.
Sandra acknowledges she’s fortunate to be able to schedule work around her children, but understands that many others don’t have that same flexibility.
She explained that she understands the feeling of sadness and frustration when you’re at work, feeling like you should be somewhere else and just going through the motions to do your job.
Sandra attributes her outlook to becoming a mother later in life, in her late 40s. She’s shared that she’s thankful she wasn’t raising a family while still figuring out who she was.

In a 2022 interview on Good Morning America, she explained she’d reached a point of maturity. She said she has a strong sense of self, understanding both her strengths and limitations, and is constantly evolving. Importantly, she doesn’t feel resentful or like she’s sacrificing her own life because of her children.
Sandra reflected on her life before having children, explaining it wasn’t necessarily wasted, but felt like she was endlessly striving for something unattainable. Now that she’s a mother, she feels completely content and wouldn’t trade her current life for anything.
