Ice-T and Coco Austin are spilling the tea about raising their daughter in the spotlight.

As a parent, I’m often asked how my husband and I talk to our daughter, Chanel, about staying humble and real, even with a life that’s… well, a little different than most. We really focus on open conversations with her, making sure she understands the importance of staying grounded despite being in the public eye. It’s all about helping her navigate the world while staying true to herself.

As a parent, one of my biggest goals is simply to raise a kind child. Of course, I want her to be smart and successful, but good manners and being a genuinely good person are even more important to me. I really want her to treat others with respect, because she’s a reflection of our family and our values when she’s out in the world. That’s what truly matters.

Look, I believe in treating everyone with respect, and I always try to be patient with people. I really just want the same in return. Honestly, it drives me crazy when someone acts entitled or dismissive – you know, rolling their eyes and generally being disrespectful. It’s just not a good look, and it doesn’t foster any kind of positive connection.

The TV star shared that she frequently talks to her daughter, Chanel, about the importance of having a positive attitude. She explained that she often tells Chanel, ‘People will form an opinion of you based on how you present yourself, sweetie.’

Honestly, I’m not sure if she really gets what’s going on, you know? Coco was saying that, but Ice quickly pointed out that Chanel actually does understand – it’s a bit confusing, but Ice seems confident she’s following everything.

Coco, who introduced Chanel to the world in 2015 with a video featuring Ice, believes her daughter doesn’t realize how much attention she receives. She also thinks Chanel doesn’t fully understand she’s been recognized since birth because her parents are public figures.

Despite being well-known, she doesn’t see herself as famous or a celebrity. In fact, she doesn’t even seem to realize people recognize her.

Coco explained that her daughter simply wants to be treated like any other child. Coco said she told her, ‘You can be a normal kid, but remember to always be polite and well-mannered.’

Ice, also known as Tracy Marrow, has taught Chanel to avoid judging others and to get to know people before forming opinions, giving everyone a fair chance.

According to actress Mariska Hargitay, Chanel has taken after her mother in many good ways. Ice-T, who has been married to Coco since 2002, explained that his daughter has inherited Coco’s vibrant personality and spirit.

The dad of three told me she’s a really sweet girl. He said the other day she asked their dog, Coco, for a treat, and Coco actually seemed to agree! He jokingly told her she was spoiled, and she immediately asked if that meant she was a brat. He reassured her she wasn’t, and admitted they definitely spoil her.

As Chanel, a recent fourth-grader, gets older, her mother, Coco, is feeling sentimental.

Sharing a photo of her daughter’s graduation, she wrote on Instagram that she knows how quickly time flies for moms. She suggested a get-together where they could all share their feelings – maybe over coffee, tea, or even something stronger like tequila – and have a good cry together. She asked who would be interested in joining.
