Inside Kate Gosselin’s World Since Ex Jon Gosselin Got Remarried

Kate’s life is largely back to normal now that her ex-husband, Jon, married Stephanie Lebo in November after dating for four years.

Although Kate still relies heavily on her former bodyguard, Steve Neild, for support – some even joke he’s as solid as a rock – she recently clarified she’s not engaged, explaining she was simply wearing her usual jewelry. The 51-year-old has also been focusing on her own well-being, working to heal both physically and emotionally.

In December, Kate revealed she was walking again after a serious leg injury. She shared a TikTok video of herself going to a doctor’s appointment on crutches, explaining that the injury happened in September while playing fetch with her dogs. She described the injury as “life-altering.”

“It’s walking day!” she exclaimed. “It finally came. I’m so excited I can’t even stand it.”

She explained that she’ll be gradually increasing her activity level, starting with 25%, then 50%, 75%, and finally 100%. She doesn’t expect to be walking normally right away, but she’s optimistic about her progress.

By January, when she and Steve visited his home country of New Zealand, she was able to walk on a beach on Waiheke Island with just one crutch.

She shared a video from January 6th with the message, “WALK to the water with me,” and added, “This is something I couldn’t have done even a few weeks ago.”

A week later, she ditched the crutch and it has made no more appearances on her socials.

The mother of twins Mady and Cara, and sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Leah, Aaden, Collin, and Joel—all of whom she shares with Jon—has improved in that area.

Just days after recovering, Kate Gosselin was grieving the unexpected loss of her dog, Nanuq. He died on December 19th during a road trip to North Carolina, where she was planning to spend Christmas with her children.

In a TikTok video, she explained how happy the dogs were to greet her children, and how happy the kids were to see her and the dogs. She hadn’t seen them in a while because they were either away at college or busy with work, and she’d been traveling a long distance to visit.

Oh my gosh, it absolutely killed me when Kate posted about NuNu. She said one minute, NuNu was totally fine, and the next… just gone. But the sweetest, most heartbreaking thing? Kate said that as NuNu was leaving in the truck, she leaned over and licked her cheek – twice! Can you imagine?! It was like her last little kiss, her final gift. I’m seriously sobbing just thinking about it. NuNu was so loved, and that little detail just… it gets me every time.

Kate now has two dogs: a German shepherd named Meika and a young malamute puppy named Koda, whom she and Steve recently adopted. She sparked some discussion on TikTok on May 26th when she playfully compared the experience of having a new puppy to raising children.

She explained in a video, wiping away tears, that she’d been crying earlier that day. She admitted to feeling exhausted and overwhelmed, saying it felt silly to be so worried, but she’d been constantly vigilant, hoping everything would be okay and keeping a close watch on everyone.

Kate observed that things are much different now that her children are grown. Reflecting on her age, she said, ‘I’m 51, not in my twenties anymore, and it’s become quite a lot to handle.’

Koda has a really big personality,” she said. “Now, she loves her ball just as much as Meika does, and she has endless energy – she could run forever!

Kate mentioned that Steve was at work, and when she’s home alone with the puppies, she always puts on Bob Ross painting videos. She says it seems to relax everyone, and then she takes the puppies for walks.

Kate explained they would begin training Koda shortly, but acknowledged the situation was very demanding. “We’re doing something worthwhile,” she said, “we just need to stay strong and keep going.”

Which, as a mother of eight, she’s used to doing.

Kate recently shared a TikTok video showing her six children, following Mother’s Day and their 22nd birthday. She revealed that one of her daughters, Leah, was in a car accident, calling it a frightening event.

Thankfully, Leah and I weren’t hurt,” Kate shared. “The car didn’t make it though – it’s a complete loss. But we figured, the party had to go on! We had a birthday to celebrate and a lot to talk about!”

The scene shifted to a restaurant where she was with Alexis, Leah, Aaden, and Joel. She then showed off a book titled Just a Few Things I Love About You Mom, calling it the best gift her children had ever given her. It’s worth noting that Collin and Hannah have been particularly close to their dad lately.

As a longtime follower, it was so touching to see Kate’s Mother’s Day post this year! Just two days after her sextuplets turned 20, she shared a sweet tribute to the four of them – Alexis, Aaden, Joel, and Leah – who she raises. It really warmed my heart to see that special moment.

She celebrated her children turning twenty with a heartfelt Instagram post, writing, ‘No more teenagers in this house! Happy 20th birthday to my forever babies! I love you!’ She jokingly added, ‘Who feels old? I know I do!’ and used the hashtag ‘#20yearsold #ItsaPICKLE’.

On to the next chapter! The sextuplet graduated from high school in 2023.

Jon posted a photo of his children, Collin and Hannah – two of his sextuplets – graduating high school in 2023. They had been living with him for several years prior to this milestone.

In 2022, Jon posted on Instagram wishing his child a happy 18th birthday. He wrote, ‘Today we’re celebrating your birthday, and I want everyone to know how much I love you.’ He signed the message, ‘Love, Dad’.

Wow, our big 15th birthday celebration is finally coming to an end! It was a full day – it actually started at 6:30 am with a little gift before school! It’s just unbelievable to me that my ‘babies’ are 15 already! I’m constantly amazed by them, and I’m so proud of the wonderful people they’re becoming as they get closer to being adults. It’s been such a special milestone to witness!

In a 2018 Instagram post, Kate expressed feeling like summer break flew by, writing, “This was yesterday! Feels like school never ended…and they’re already back!” She included the hashtags #SeniorYear, #EighthGrade, and #ProudMom.

 

Jon Gosselin wished Hannah, Collin, Alexis, Aaden, Joel, and Leah a happy 15th birthday on Instagram. He shared a photo with Hannah and Collin, expressing his disbelief at how quickly time has passed. He wrote a heartfelt message saying he loves them all very much and hopes they have a wonderful birthday and weekend celebrations. He signed it with ‘Love always, Dad’.

Kate shared a funny and heartwarming exchange she had with her daughters. They were excitedly counting down the days until their 14th birthdays, and kept reminding her how close it was! Kate was playfully shocked, exclaiming how quickly time was flying. When she told one of her daughters, Leah, that she was still too young to be 14, Leah jokingly questioned if she might only be turning 11 or 12. Kate lovingly insisted they’ll always be her babies and expressed how much she loves them.
