Inside Met Gala 2026: All the Celebrity Photos & Candid Moments

Dreaming of attending the 2026 Met Gala at the last minute? We have the inside scoop on how you can get an invitation.

Mark the first Monday in May by getting an exclusive look at fashion’s most glamorous event—the Met Gala, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s yearly fundraiser—without traveling to New York City. You can see photos of all the stars arriving on the red carpet here.

Fans got a glimpse inside the May 4th party thanks to photos shared on social media by guests like Cher and Rachel Sennott. The event was co-hosted by stars including Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Vogue editor Anna Wintour, and featured everything from candid snapshots to a few unauthorized selfies.

Cher shared a cute photo from inside the party with Jesse Jo Stark, who is also her goddaughter. The party’s theme was “Costume Art,” and guests were encouraged to dress as if “Fashion Is Art.” Cher herself wore a cool, edgy black outfit with a motorcycle jacket.

Rachel gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at getting ready for the Met Gala, sharing how she and her team—including stylists and assistants—prepped for fashion’s biggest event. She wore a vibrant Marc Jacobs outfit inspired by pop art.

Keke Palmer and Connor Storrie seemed to really hit it off when they met at the event. The actress, known for The Burbs, and the star of Heated Rivalry shared big smiles and a hug with each other.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen a huge shift in how celebrities present themselves! It’s amazing now – they can share as many personal photos and selfies as they like without any worry. But honestly, it wasn’t always like that. There used to be a lot more scrutiny and potential backlash for being so open.

In 2015, guests were asked not to use social media at the event to maintain its sophisticated atmosphere and prevent excessive photo and video sharing.

According to Sylvana Ward Durrett, a former Vogue staffer, Anna prefers social gatherings where guests actually interact and converse with each other, rather than just passively attending. She told the New York Post in 2016 that Anna is a bit of a traditionalist in that regard.

That means guests should not be glued to their phones all night.

We’re not micromanaging anyone,” Sylvana explained, “but if someone clearly makes a mistake, we might politely point it out.

Recently, the rule against taking selfies at the event has become much more relaxed, letting celebrities share photos of their encounters with other famous guests at the dinner and costume show. What fun things are the stars up to this year?
