Five-year-old Khai Malik has a world of possibilities ahead of her. While she might follow in her mother Gigi Hadid’s fashionable path, she could also become a musical superstar!
Zayn Malik mentioned on The Zach Sang Show in 2024 that his daughter isn’t a drumming pro yet, but she has a natural sense of rhythm. He believes she has the potential to become really good with practice.
Not that the One Direction alum wanted to take all the credit for his preschooler’s skills.
Zayn revealed that during his on-again, off-again relationship with Gigi, she consistently won at Guitar Hero. He jokingly complained, ‘I’m the musician, but she always beat me at the game!’
Khai has an incredible memory for songs. He was amazed that she knows entire songs by heart, singing every word perfectly. She’s also very skilled at performing intricate vocal runs and trills – effortlessly hitting several notes in quick succession.
He encourages Khai’s growing interest in music, having taken her to concerts for both TWICE in March and Blackpink last July. But right now, he and Gigi want to prioritize letting her enjoy being a child.
He admitted that his daughter is growing up in a unique situation. As the child of a pop star and a model, her experiences will likely be different from those of many other kids, he explained during an appearance on the Alex Cooper‘s Call Her Daddy podcast.
Take her first visit from the tooth fairy.
Zayn admitted on the Call Her Daddy podcast that he might have spoiled his daughter a little, giving her $500 for her first tooth. While Khai’s mom wasn’t thrilled, Zayn feels he works hard and deserves to be able to give his daughter whatever he wants.
She’ll get five dollars for her next tooth, but that’s it. I’m saying the Tooth Fairy is running out of money, so there won’t be any more gifts after this.
I mean, can you even imagine? Gigi started walking for Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Victoria’s Secret – all the biggest names – when she was just eighteen! It’s insane. But honestly, what I think she wants most for her little girl? Just a normal life. Like, a little bit of peace and quiet away from all the craziness. It’s so sweet, you know? She wants her daughter to have some semblance of normalcy, and I totally get it. It’s everything.
That’s why she’s decided Khai should stay out of the spotlight on Instagram and other social media.
Speaking to her Instagram followers in 2021, the model—who turned 31 on April 23rd—said she hopes her daughter will be able to decide how she wants to present herself to the world when she’s older. She also wants her daughter to have a normal childhood, free from the pressures of a public image she didn’t ask for.
Gigi has been with Bradley Cooper since 2023 and still owns a penthouse in New York City, but she now primarily lives on a farmhouse she bought about two hours away in Pennsylvania.
Zayn told L’Officiel magazine in March 2024 that he and his partner both feel the countryside is an ideal place to raise their child, with plenty of activities available. He added that they enjoy spending a lot of time outdoors as a result.
Gigi tries to keep her daughter’s face hidden, but she frequently shares photos on Instagram of their outdoor activities, like horseback riding, playing in the water, and exploring a local creek.
Gigi Hadid explained to NET-A-PORTER in 2023 that being a parent requires careful planning. She and Zayn schedule their co-parenting arrangements months ahead of time because she feels she only has half the time she used to. She prioritizes work during the times her daughter is with her father.
Though she’s been known to occasionally mix business with pleasure.
Oh my gosh, it’s Khai! She and her bestie are actually modeling for Gigi’s Guest in Residence kids’ line – I knew she’d be amazing! Gigi said they come to the office, and Khai will literally try on one dress, and then immediately ask to go get donuts. It’s the cutest thing ever, honestly. She’s so Khai!
Quite simply, life with her mini-me is a constant serving of sweetness, swears Gigi.
In a 2023 interview with The Sunday Times, she shared, “I’m incredibly grateful for everything she’s done for me.” She also explained that while she always dreamed of becoming a mother, it wasn’t the sole purpose of her life.
