The biggest box office bomb ever?

Every summer brings big-budget movies, and at least one usually flops, sometimes spectacularly. Expensive films have always failed – remember ‘Cleopatra’ from 1963? It nearly bankrupted 20th Century Fox, and they struggled financially for years until ‘Star Wars’ saved them. Now, there’s a new movie that looks set to become the biggest box office disaster of all time.

‘Desert Warrior’ tells the story of Hanzala, a skilled and enigmatic wanderer. When he helps a runaway king and princess escape across the desert, he earns the wrath of the powerful Emperor Kisra.

What went on behind the scenes….

Starring Anthony Mackie alongside established actors like Ben Kingsley, Sharlto Copley, and Aiysha Hart, the film boasts a strong cast and director. Rupert Wyatt, known for directing 2011’s ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ – the first film in a well-regarded trilogy – directed the movie. However, reports suggest trouble during editing, as Wyatt briefly left the project during post-production, though he apparently returned to finish it.

Desert Warrior took six years to produce and cost $150 million, mostly funded by the Saudi government hoping to establish itself in filmmaking. However, the film has been a major financial failure. It only earned $517,508 worldwide during its opening weekend, making it likely to become one of the biggest box office flops in history.
