Greg Biffle’s inner circle allegedly tried to take advantage of his tragic death.
Four months after NASCAR driver and his family – including his wife, Cristina Grossu, and children Ryder, 5, and Emma, 14 – tragically died in a plane crash, authorities investigating the case believe a January 7th break-in at the family’s North Carolina home was a planned effort by his friends to steal his money and possessions. This information comes from a search warrant application filed with the Iredell County Sheriff on March 10th.
According to a detective’s statement in the application, friends of Gregory Biffle had a plan in motion, and they put it into action after the Biffle family passed away, as reported by the Charlotte Observer.
The request for a search warrant stated that the burglary at the Biffles’ house – where $30,000, NASCAR collectibles, and two Glocks were taken – wasn’t just a simple robbery. Authorities believed it was an attempt to hide the theft of evidence related to a larger scheme targeting the Biffle family and their assets, including both money and property.
A search warrant revealed numerous instances of fraud on the bank accounts of Biffle and Grossu. The documents indicate this was a deliberate and organized effort, impacting accounts across several states and resulting in the theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Investigators believe the theft required several people working together who had detailed knowledge of the Biffles’ accounts. These individuals needed access to sensitive personal information, such as social security numbers, dates of birth, and passwords, to successfully commit the crime.
Investigators, using several search warrants, found evidence suggesting that people close to the Biffles may have stolen a significant amount of money from their bank accounts.

The search warrant stated that the person writing it believed there had been a long-running scheme to defraud the Biffle family.
According to the warrant, unusual activity began on the family’s email and bank accounts immediately after the plane crash. This included changes to their email addresses, phone numbers, and passwords.
The detective also stated that the person who broke into the home on January 7th was inside for a significant period of time.
The investigation is still active and no arrests have been made, but a search warrant revealed that investigators matched the appearance of someone in security footage from the burglary to a woman who attended a memorial service for Biffle on December 16th. According to the warrant, this woman was a friend of Biffle’s wife, Cristina Grossu.
