The new James Bond game, 007 First Light, won’t be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 as originally planned, according to its developer, IO Interactive.
Originally known as ‘Project 007’ when it was first mentioned in 2020, the game was officially unveiled in its present state early last year.
The game was originally planned to launch in May on all systems, after being pushed back from a March release. However, the version for the new Switch 2 won’t be available at that time.
The game’s developers have confirmed it will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in May. A version for the new Switch 2 console will follow sometime later this summer.

007 First Light is one of many new games planned to release on the upcoming Switch 2, along with other consoles. Its launch will demonstrate the new console’s improved hardware compared to the original Switch.
This isn’t the first delay for a Switch 2 game from another company. For example, Borderlands 4 was initially planned to launch in October 2025, but it still hasn’t been released on the platform.
