Jason Momoa and his family are safe amid a massive storm in Hawaii.
When heavy rains caused flash flooding on O’ahu’s North Shore on March 21st, actor Jason Momoa, known for his role in Aquaman, shared that he and his family were safe after having to leave their home in Honolulu.
Jason shared on Instagram on March 21st that he and his family had evacuated from the North Shore after losing power.
Jason Momoa, 46, shared that he and his family—including his children Lola, 18, and Nokoa-Wolf, 17, with ex-wife Lisa Bonet—are currently safe. He also expressed his sympathy for those who weren’t so fortunate, saying they are in his thoughts.
As a longtime follower of Hawaiian news, I was heartbroken to learn about the devastating floods on Maui last week. It was the worst flooding they’ve seen in over 20 years! Governor Josh Green reported that around 5,500 people had to be evacuated from the North Shore – it’s just a really tough situation for everyone there.
Jason shared on Instagram that the North Shore is facing some dangerous conditions right now. He urged everyone to prioritize their safety and evacuate if necessary, wishing everyone well.
After Hawaii experienced 40 to 50 inches of rain in the past month, actor Zac Efron—who has been in a relationship with Adria Arjona since 2024—has been using his social media to raise awareness about the damage to his home state.
Jason shared on Instagram on March 21st that the recent weeks have been difficult. The storms, flooding, and relentless rain on O’ahu have deeply impacted many residents, particularly those who were already struggling. He noted the heartbreaking sight of families forced from their homes, communities facing challenges, and the disproportionate hardship experienced by people experiencing homelessness.

Jason and Adria also announced they were teaming up with their favorite restaurant, Zippy’s, to provide meals to people in their neighborhood during the recent storms.
Jason shared that Adria suggested they go feed people experiencing homelessness. Zippy’s then stepped in to sponsor the effort, which Jason thought was ‘really cool.’
While happy about the good thing that happened with Adria, he shared, “We’re going to treat everyone to our favorite meal.”
Jason loves living in Hawaii, but he’s not the only celebrity who prefers life outside of Hollywood. Here’s a look at some other stars who’ve chosen to live elsewhere…

After 19 seasons, The Ellen DeGeneres Show ended in 2022 following reports of a negative and harmful workplace. These reports led to an internal investigation, the firing of several executives, and widespread public criticism.
Ellen made a comeback with her last standup comedy show, For Your Approval, which premiered on Netflix in September 2024. Before the show aired, she announced that she was planning to retire from Hollywood.
During her Ellen’s Last Stand…Up tour, the comedian told the audience, according to SFGate, that she plans to retire after releasing a Netflix special. She stated, “This is the last time you’re going to see me.”
Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE this! Ellen and Portia, my absolute heroes, they actually moved to the Cotswolds! I was listening to Ellen talk to Richard Bacon – it was at the Everyman theater in Cheltenham, back in July 2025 – and she said they decided to stay put there for good in November 2024. Apparently, it was after… well, after Donald Trump got reelected. It just proves they have amazing taste and know what’s best for them! I’m so happy they’re safe and happy over there.
She raved about the English countryside, telling the BBC it was “absolutely beautiful” and unlike anything she was used to. She especially loved the charming villages, towns, and architecture, noting it offered a more relaxed and simple way of life.
Honestly, I’m just so happy with our move! Everything feels…better here. The animals are well cared for, and people are genuinely kind – it makes such a difference. We relocated in November, which wasn’t perfect timing, but I finally got to experience snow for the first time – it was magical! We’re really settling in. Portia brought her horses with us, and I’ve got a little flock of chickens. We even had sheep for a short while – about two weeks, but it was lovely!

Tyra Banks, the host of America’s Next Top Model, decided to move to Australia partly to focus on her ice cream company, SMiZE and Dream. She explained on Today with Jenna & Friends that her business had been primarily supplying ice cream to places like airplanes and cruise ships, and she was frequently traveling to Australia where a large facility was producing her recipes. She grew to love the country with each visit.
Banks also realized Australia was a promising market for her brand, noting that the three countries that consume the most ice cream are the United States, New Zealand, and Australia.
She ultimately moved there with her son, York (whose father is her ex, Erik Asla), and her boyfriend, Louis Bélanger-Martin, saying that Australia has been a wonderful experience for her and her family.

Eva Longoria, best known for her role on Desperate Housewives, has moved away from Los Angeles and now splits her time between Mexico and Spain with her husband, José Bastón, and their son, Santiago. She explained to Marie Claire that while she spent her adult life in California, the state had changed, and the pandemic accelerated that shift. Issues like homelessness and taxes contributed to her decision, though she emphasized she doesn’t want to criticize California.
Longoria clarified to The View: Behind the Table that her move wasn’t politically motivated, despite occurring after the presidential election. She explained it was due to work opportunities, starting with a six-month shoot in Catalonia for Land of Women, followed by four months in Mexico for Searching for Mexico, and continuing back in Spain. She simply prefers to keep her reasons separate from politics.
Despite the move, Longoria remains active in her career, with recent roles in Only Murders in the Building and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip. She also expressed feeling fortunate to be able to leave the US, acknowledging that many Americans aren’t so lucky and feels anxiety and sadness for them.

Actor Richard Gere has relocated from Chicago to Spain with his family. He shared that his wife, Alejandra Silva, who is from Galicia, encouraged the move, and they plan to live in Madrid for several years. Gere is excited about the opportunity for their sons, Alexander and James, to thrive in a bilingual environment. He also has an adult son, Homer, from a previous relationship with Carey Lowell. The family seems to be enjoying the change. In an interview with Elle España, Gere stated they are happier than ever and currently experiencing a positive momentum in their lives.

Singer Christina Milian and her family have officially made Paris their home. Married to French singer Matt Pokora for over seven years, the couple previously spent half the year commuting between the U.S. and France. They decided to fully relocate so their children – Violet (from a previous marriage), and sons Isaiah and Kenna – could attend school in France. Milian feels it’s a fantastic opportunity for them. The family seems to be thriving in their new life. Milian shared with TopMob that her kids are happy and fluent in French, she enjoys an active lifestyle, and she’s able to balance work with family time by working ahead of schedule. She describes it as a healthy and fulfilling balance.

Lindsay Lohan is frustrated by ongoing speculation about why she left Los Angeles and decided to clarify the situation, reflecting on her busy career and social life during the 2000s. In a March 2024 interview with Bustle, the Parent Trap star explained that she felt her work was often overshadowed by constant paparazzi attention, which she found irritating. She wished the focus had remained on her career and felt the media frenzy spiraled out of control, prompting her desire to step away. This led her to move overseas, first to London and then Dubai, and even open beach clubs in Greece, but the main reason for leaving was to escape the relentless spotlight and allow her work to speak for itself.
Lindsay Lohan admitted she worried she might never find love, wondering if it would ever happen for her. She realized she needed to focus on herself before things started falling into place and she began receiving opportunities she truly wanted.
Eventually, she did find love with Bader Shammas, marrying him in 2022 and welcoming their son, Luai, in 2023.
Although they currently live in Dubai, Lindsay hasn’t left acting behind. She’s continued to appear in films like Our Little Secret, Irish Wish, and Freakier Friday.

Josh decided to leave Hollywood after some careful thought. He explained to People magazine in July 2024 that Hollywood isn’t just a location, but a whole way of life. He wanted to avoid being surrounded by people constantly focused on the movie industry, fearing it would limit his perspective.
He longed for a more diverse environment, telling the magazine he wanted to be around people with varied interests to challenge him and broaden his horizons – what he called ‘the spice of life.’
So, Josh, along with his wife Tamsin Egerton and their four children, moved to the countryside in Hampshire, England. He told The Guardian in July 2024 that while life with four kids is busy, it also allows him to focus on what truly matters.
Despite the move, Josh has continued to act, appearing in films like Verity, Fight or Flight, and Trap.

Many fans may not realize Jesse no longer lives in Los Angeles. In a February 2025 interview with CBS News Sunday Morning, the star of A Real Pain revealed he’s lived in Indiana for the past ten years, finding it a more comfortable environment. He explained he prefers to avoid the instability of the entertainment industry.
Despite being an Oscar nominee, Jesse lives a surprisingly normal life with his wife, Anna Strout, and their son, Banner. He avoids social media and doesn’t spend much time networking with industry professionals, which helps him maintain a sense of separation from the pressures of Hollywood. His wife works as a teacher, and his son isn’t even a big movie fan, further grounding him in a life outside of the entertainment world.

Eliza Dushku, known for her roles in shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the movie Bring It On, announced in September 2024 that she’s now a certified psychedelic-assisted therapist and is continuing her education in the field of mental health.
She explained to Boston Magazine that she was able to change her life’s path to focus on her own well-being, with the goal of then helping others heal. She felt it was important to share the positive changes she’d experienced, the peace she’d found, and her newfound passion, believing this was truly her calling and purpose.

The actress best known for playing Wilma Flintstone shared that she relocated to Ireland with her son, Clay, in January 2025. She’s currently working on becoming an Irish citizen because of her family history – her grandparents were from Ireland. While she mentioned recent political events as a factor in her decision to move, she hasn’t ruled out the possibility of returning to her home country in the future.
She shared on TikTok that she misses her children and friends, and many aspects of her life back home. She’s working on building a new life in her current country, and says her family will think about returning to America when it’s safe and all citizens have equal rights.

I’m absolutely gutted! Evangeline Lily, my queen, just announced she’s stepping away from acting…for now, at least. After two decades of giving us incredible performances, she needs a break, and honestly, while I’m devastated, I totally get it. Twenty years is a long time to dedicate to anything, and she’s earned the right to just live for a while. It’s so sad to think we won’t see her on screen for a bit, but I’m sending her all my love and support. I just hope this isn’t goodbye forever!
In a June 2024 Instagram post, Evangeline shared how happy and at peace she feels while pursuing her dreams. She expressed gratitude for everything she has, explaining that while choosing a path less focused on money and recognition can be daunting, living a life aligned with your true purpose brings a deep sense of satisfaction instead of fear.
However, she’s not ruling out a return to Hollywood completely, saying, “I could see myself going back someday, but right now, I’m happy where I am.”

Since starring in the 2019 Netflix series V-Wars, the actor best known for The Vampire Diaries has been focusing on a personal mission: fighting climate change by working to improve soil health around the world.
Ian, who has two children with his wife Nikki Reed, took a break from acting over four years ago to focus on raising his family and developing his businesses. He was also working to release two documentaries, Kiss the Ground (released in 2020) and Common Ground, both of which highlight the importance of regenerative farming. He shared this with TopMob News in November 2023.
You know, I’ve been thinking a lot about the future, and I envision myself as a rancher, really focused on building brands that will last. I’m talking about things like my bourbon and my health and wellness company, all rooted in sustainable farming and taking care of the land. It’s a lifestyle my family and I already embrace, and honestly, it’s where I’m headed. So when people ask me why this is so important to me, that’s the answer – it’s simply who I am and the life I’m building.

In a February 2021 episode of her podcast, Empty Inside, former iCarly star Jennette McCurdy shared with guest Anna Faris that she had quit acting a few years prior. She’s now pursuing writing and directing opportunities, alongside hosting the podcast.
Jennette recently shared that she deeply regrets many of the acting roles she took in the past, detailing these feelings in her 2022 memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died. She explained that she feels frustrated with her career and unfulfilled by the parts she played, describing them as cheesy and embarrassing. Having worked on those shows from ages 13 to 21, she was already feeling ashamed by age 15, realizing her peers didn’t view her TV work as something to be proud of.
She hasn’t ruled out returning to acting completely. In an interview with TopMob News in October 2022, she explained that writing her book helped her consider acting in a new light, free from past pressures. She suggested she might consider a role if she wrote a part specifically for herself, as that could be the only way she’d feel comfortable exploring it again.

Honestly, it seemed like a total dream come true. The chance to marry Prince Harry, really dedicate myself to causes I care about, and get to wear those incredible tiaras from the Queen? Saying goodbye to Hollywood would have been a small price to pay, absolutely.
Similar to Grace Kelly’s journey from Hollywood to Monaco, Meghan Markle transitioned from her acting career in Toronto, where she starred in the show Suits, to a life within the British Royal Family. Now that she and Prince Harry have stepped down as senior royals and live in California, Meghan is returning to professional life. This includes a production deal with Netflix, where she released the 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan and will launch a lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, in 2025. She has also started a podcast and launched her brand, As Ever.

Oh my gosh, can you believe she’d made over 40 movies since she first burst onto the scene in The Mask back in ’94? By the time she finished Annie in 2014, she so deserved a break! Seriously, she works non-stop and I was worried she was going to burn out. It was amazing she even had energy left, honestly!
She told Gwyneth Paltrow that she realized she wanted a different lifestyle. After years of intense work and filmmaking, she felt burnt out. She explained that making a movie demands total commitment – long days, months on set, and no personal time.
Cameron Diaz had many interests she wanted to pursue, including writing—she followed up her popular 2013 book, The Body Book, with The Longevity Book in 2016—and starting a family with her husband, Benji Madden. Though she told InStyle in 2019 that she didn’t miss acting and was focused on wellness, it seems she might be open to returning to performing at least once.
Jamie Foxx explained to TopMob News how they convinced Cameron Diaz to star in the 2025 Netflix movie Back in Action. He said they practically pleaded with her, getting down on their knees to ask her to do it. “We love her and have been waiting for her to return, and this is going to be amazing,” he added.

The actor stated firmly that he wouldn’t return to the show after completing his five years on Empire. When Extra asked Terrence Howard about his plans before the sixth and final season aired in 2019, he said, “I’m finished with acting. I’m done with pretending.”
Despite briefly returning for a few projects, the Oscar-nominated actor announced his retirement from acting again in 2022 while promoting his Peacock series, The Best Man: The Final Chapters. He explained to ET that he felt he’d given his all as an actor and now wanted to enjoy seeing new talent emerge, rather than simply repeating performances he’d already mastered.
Even with those previous concerns, Howard has continued to act, appearing in shows like Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist and the Netflix film Shirley. He also has several other projects planned for the future.

After his character, King Joffrey, died on the show in 2014, Jack Gleeson, who was 21 at the time, decided to stop acting. He told EW that he’d been acting since he was a child and simply wasn’t enjoying it anymore.
Jack isn’t a child star anymore, and some of the excitement has faded. He explained that now that acting could become a career, it felt different. “Before, it was just a fun hobby I did with friends or during the summer,” he said. “I used to really enjoy it, but when you rely on something for income, it changes how you feel about it. It’s not that I dislike it, I just don’t want it to be my job.”
After taking six years off, Jack returned to acting in 2020 with a role in the BBC series Out of Her Mind. Since then, he’s also been in films such as Rebecca’s Boyfriend and In the Land of Saints and Sinners, and TV shows like Safe Harbor and The Famous Five.

As a lifestyle expert, I always find it fascinating to learn how successful couples make things work! Back in 1989, when Jennifer Aniston – yes, that Jennifer Aniston – married Kevin Kline, they came up with a really smart solution for balancing their careers and raising their two children, Owen and Greta. They decided to stagger their work schedules so they’d never both be on set at the same time, ensuring one parent was always available for the kids. It’s lovely to see how that worked out – Greta, who now performs as the singer Frankie Cosmos, and Owen both seem to have thrived! It just goes to show, intentionality is key when juggling family and a career.
He added that Phoebe consistently prioritizes staying home with her children whenever she’s scheduled to work. While she briefly appeared in a 2001 independent film, The Anniversary Party, starring her friend Jennifer Jason Leigh, Cates primarily focuses on running her boutique, Blue Tree, in New York City.

Oh my gosh, it broke my heart when Rick Moranis basically disappeared! He was so amazing in Ghostbusters and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids – a total comedic genius! It was right after his wife tragically passed away from breast cancer in ’91, and honestly, I totally understood. He needed to be there for his kids, Rachel and Mitchell, and family is everything. It was sad for us fans, of course, but I always admired him for putting them first.
Despite not appearing in a live-action movie since 1997 – he even turned down a quick appearance in the 2016 Ghostbusters remake – Rick remains a beloved figure, as shown by the strong reaction to news reports of an assault he experienced while walking in New York City in 2020. Good news for his fans: he’s returning to the screen in the upcoming Disney reboot, Shrunk, alongside Josh Gad.

After marrying fashion designer Adam Kimmel in 2010, actress Drew Barrymore suggested she was considering stepping back from acting. She told Vogue that most acting roles require a lot of intimate scenes, and she wasn’t comfortable with that. While she felt her marriage was strong, she believed any potentially compromising role needed to be truly exceptional to be worth it.
After her son, Martin, joined his older sister, Louisanna, in 2014, she firmly decided to step away from acting. She told Us Weekly in 2016 that she felt like an outsider in the movie industry and was now focused on being a mom. She also supports her husband, Kimmel, with his work and enjoys painting as a hobby. She explained that prioritizing her children was the main reason she stopped acting.

She’d built a strong resume with roles in popular shows like Ally McBeal, Nip/Tuck, Arrested Development, and Scandal. After those experiences, the Australian actress began to feel like it was time for a change.
Turning 45, I started thinking about trying something completely new and challenging,” she shared on her wife Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show in 2018. “I had a good idea of what my acting career would look like for the next decade or two, so I decided to leave acting and start my own business instead.”
Her company, General Public, which creates art for everyone, was almost complete – she just needed to finish one final piece.
I spoke with Mitch Hurwitz, the creator of Arrested Development, and told him I wouldn’t participate in a fifth season because I had decided to stop acting. He was very understanding and supportive, and we had a good talk. Surprisingly, he ended up writing me into five episodes anyway.

It’s understandable why, after winning three Oscars, an actor might consider what else there is to achieve. Following his sixth Oscar nomination for the 2017 film Phantom Thread, the actor announced through his representative that he was retiring from acting. He expressed deep gratitude to everyone he’d worked with and to his audiences over the years, and stated that this was a personal decision, with no further comments to be made.
Just as Daniel Day-Lewis had announced his retirement from acting, a new project drew him back in. In October 2024, Focus Features revealed he would star in Anemone, a film he co-wrote with his son, Ronan Day-Lewis, who will also be directing.

After finding fame on Good Luck Charlie, she decided to focus on her education in 2018. She went on to earn both a master’s degree and a PhD from MIT, and later attended Harvard Law School.
On top of everything else, Bridgit founded Northwood Space, a startup focused on building ground stations for sending and receiving data from satellites. She became the company’s CEO in February 2023.
