Jenny Mollen Details “Current State” of Life After Jason Biggs Breakup

When in Rome, Jenny Mollen is taking time to contemplate.

Just two weeks after announcing her split from Jason Biggs, the actress known for her role in Angel revealed she’s taking a trip abroad to help her through the difficult time.

In a recent Substack essay, Kate Mollen shared that she’s heading to Italy on Wednesday, joking that it feels a bit like the movie Eat, Pray, Love given what’s going on in her life. However, she clarified she isn’t planning a self-discovery journey or a romance. ‘I already have two half-Italians at home,’ she wrote, referring to her sons, 12-year-old Sid and 8-year-old Lazlo, whom she shares with Jason.

Mollen had already planned the trip across the Atlantic before she announced her split from the American Pie actor, with whom she’d been married for 18 years.

She explained she was going to the party because a friend invited her, adding that it was also her birthday.

In other parts of the essay, the author, who is 46 years old, shared that she used to quickly move past significant life events. She recalled her 6th birthday party as an example, explaining she was too focused on getting to the piñata to fully enjoy the moment.

Although she plans to live life at a more relaxed pace from now on, Mollen jokingly said that if she sees a piñata during her trip to Italy, she’s definitely going to hit it as hard as she can.

Earlier this month, a representative for Mollen and Biggs told TopMob News that the two are still friendly and committed to raising their children together.

Just before news of their split became public, Mollen hinted at trouble in her relationship with Biggs, her husband of over a decade, in a post on her Substack blog.

The actress, known for her role in Cattle Call, recently shared that she’s never experienced a breakup and has always been the one who liked someone a little more than they liked her. Now, she feels like she’s about to get a taste of her own medicine and experience some serious heartbreak!

Although they shared almost 20 happy years together, the couple was open about the challenges they faced. In 2017, Jason Biggs revealed that his past struggles with alcohol had created difficulties in their marriage before he got sober.

In a popular 2017 essay—later revisited in 2019—Mollen openly discussed her feelings of jealousy towards her husband’s former partner, and how becoming a mother changed those feelings. The essay is titled, “I Used to Be Jealous of My Husband’s Ex, Then I Became a Mom.”

Biggs, for his part, thought the essay was “really sweet.”

Biggs explained to US Weekly that both he and the woman he previously pursued have moved on with their lives and now have children. He said she felt it was important to address how much she’s changed and that she’s no longer the person she was when that happened.

Jason Biggs realized Jenny Mollen was the woman he wanted to marry while they worked together on the 2007 film My Best Friend’s Girl. They dated for only six months before Jason proposed, and they were married in April 2008.

In May 2018, Jason celebrated his wife Jenny’s birthday with a heartfelt social media post. He affectionately called her “my baby momma” and “the love of my life,” playfully acknowledging her Gemini personality. Jason detailed all the gifts and surprises he planned – including flowers, a card, dinner, a gift, gluten-free cupcakes, and a surprise visit from her best friend flown in from Los Angeles – but jokingly declared his efforts incomplete until he’d shared it all online. He finished with a simple “Happy Birthday, Jenny!”

Jenny shared a funny story on The Drew Barrymore Show in May 2021. She revealed that she often intentionally misspells her husband Jason’s name as “Jadon” on Instagram. It started because her phone’s autocorrect changed Jason to Jadon, and she began doing it on purpose. Jenny jokingly explained that, since she’s often known as “Jason Biggs’ wife,” calling him “Jadon” felt like a playful way to take back some control. She quipped that on Instagram, he’s her husband.

Jason and his wife have two sons, Sid (born in 2014) and Lazlo (born in 2017). He’s even hinted at wanting another child, jokingly telling People magazine in 2018 that he’ll retire once he has a daughter.

Let’s be real, most expectant parents aren’t dealing with situations like you see in the movie Amateur Night! But it’s funny to me that I actually played a pregnant woman on screen – in that hilarious film – about a year before my son, Lazlo, was born. Talk about method acting, right?

Jenny and Jason introduced their baby, Lazlo, to Eugene Levy – who famously played Jason’s dad in the American Pie movies. Jason shared a sweet moment on Instagram in January 2018, joking that he couldn’t get Lazlo to laugh, so he called in Eugene! The photo shows Jenny holding baby Lazlo while the whole family shares a happy laugh.

Jason and Jenny appeared together in a TV show based on Jenny’s life story, titled I Like You Just the Way I Am. The funny show followed a wife (Jenny) trying to manage her life, with her supportive husband (Jason) by her side. Busy Philipps and Sharon Lawrence also starred in the series, but it was only on air for one season.

Oh my gosh, you guys, it was like watching The Newlywed Game but a million times better! Jason and Jenny were just amazing co-hosting My Partner Knows Best on Lifetime back in 2018 – seriously, they’re the ultimate couple! Jenny even said on TODAY while they were talking about the show that it was SO hard working together, but they wanted to see just how strong their love really was! It was the cutest, most honest thing ever, and it totally proved they’re a dynamic duo! I’ve watched it like, a million times.

Food blogger Jenny celebrated her husband Jason’s birthday on May 12, 2021, calling him her “absolute favorite.” In an Instagram post, she affectionately described him as her lifelong partner, mentor, and inspiration, jokingly apologizing for sharing too many photos of him while under the influence of Ambien.

Jenny wrote about the time Jason jokingly “stalked” his ex-girlfriend, something Jason later described as a humorous event for both of them and which she included in her books. Speaking to Us Weekly, Jason joked about how life changes – the woman he once playfully pursued now has children. He explained that both he and she have matured, and she felt the need to publicly acknowledge that she’s a different person now.

Even after Jenny co-hosted the Bachelor In Paradise After Show with Chris Harrison in 2015, she and Jason still enjoy watching their favorite reality TV shows together. Jason jokingly revealed in a 2019 People magazine home tour, “I’ll put ESPN on to make it look like I watch sports, but honestly, that’s where we watch The Bachelor and Real Housewives.”

Jason and Jenny, parents of two, know that a good marriage takes work. They appeared on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette in 2019 to share advice with the contestants about how to properly care for a pregnant partner, emphasizing that childbirth isn’t always easy.

In October 2018, Jason celebrated one year of sobriety and shared his journey with alcohol and drug addiction on social media. He explained that he first attempted to get sober over five years prior, when his dependence on substances became overwhelming. He admitted that achieving sobriety was incredibly difficult, but he was immensely proud to have reached one year. Jason encouraged anyone struggling with addiction to seek help, emphasizing that there’s no shame in doing so and that recovery is possible.

Jenny celebrated her husband’s achievement with a heartfelt message. She wrote, ‘So proud of you today! Congratulations, my love. I know how hard you work, and I appreciate everything you do. I love you and admire your dedication.’

Jenny and her husband Jason are a strong team, and Jenny has been open with fans about the challenges of motherhood. In a 2017 Instagram post, she described how quickly new mothers can struggle with difficult emotions, feeling lost and questioning themselves despite being told they should be happy. She urged anyone feeling this way to seek help, dismissing the idea that they should be feeling differently.

Jenny and Jason’s passion for one another still runs deep…even if it’s a little NSFW. “When people ask what it was like having actors as parents,” Jenny joked on Instagram with a makeout pic of her and Jason, and their kids only a few feet away.

Jenny also famously revealed in her memoir I Like You Just the Way I Am that she hired a prostitute for Jason’s birthday, but the American Pie star couldn’t perform during the planned threesome. “[The] prostitute wasn’t engaging with my wife the way I hope she would, so it all kind of fell apart, and the rest is in the book,” Jason said on The View in 2014, as reported by Page Six.

Jason and Jenny, who used to co-host a radio show on SiriusXM, are practicing what they preach – they’re seeing a marriage counselor! Jenny told People magazine in December 2020 that therapy has been key to their ability to work together. She explained, “You can’t work together and not have a therapist.”

Or, as Jason put it, “You’ve got to do it as a preemptive strike.”

Jenny and Jason, who have been married for over ten years, jokingly revealed that their sex life actually improved during the coronavirus pandemic! They found that increased intimacy helped them cope with being stuck in quarantine and strengthened their bond. “It’s been a really positive experience for us,” Jenny shared with Us Weekly in August 2020. “We’ve become even closer, and it feels great to have more intimacy in our relationship.”

Jason and Jenny celebrated their ten-year wedding anniversary on April 22, 2018. Jason wrote a heartfelt message, saying it was the best decision he ever made and that he hoped for many more decades together. He finished with a sweet, “I love you.”

In 2022, Jason was there to support his wife at a book event in New York, where she spoke with her friend, Busy Philipps, about her book, City of Likes.

The couple attended NYC Second Chance Rescue’s fourth annual gala in 2024 and took a photo with a cute dog.

Jenny was caught leaping into Jason’s arms during an outing in New York in January 2025.

The couple’s last public appearance together was in November 2025 at the 43rd Torino Film Festival in Italy.
