Ken Levine, the mastermind behind Judas and the BioShock series, has addressed fan concerns about the game’s sudden appearance on the scene without an announced release date. Known as one of the few visionaries in the gaming world, Levine first rose to fame with the popular BioShock franchise, which he helmed until 2013’s BioShock Infinite. Despite a challenging development process, the game was praised by critics and proved successful commercially. Eager to begin anew, Levine formed a smaller team to create a game that would serve as a follow-up to the BioShock series, after a significant period of careful planning and development.
We uncovered the genuine essence of his upcoming game called “Judas” a few years ago. For quite some time, it was enveloped in mystery, but over the past couple of years, we’ve seen some progress in revealing its secrets. A handful of press got to play the game and shared enthusiastic reviews about it. These early impressions hinted that “Judas” might not be too far off, but so far, it remains unseen. It didn’t make an appearance at Summer Game Fest, where some fans were eagerly waiting for its release date announcement. Now, it seems more probable that it will either debut at The Game Awards or even next year’s Summer Game Fest, as “Judas” was initially slated for a 2025 launch, but it appears it won’t meet that deadline.
Judas Release Date Won’t Be Announced Until It’s a Guarantee

This week, there was fresh news on the game “Judas” shared by Levine through the PlayStation Blog. The director discussed some fundamental concepts of the game, in addition to addressing rumors and worries surrounding the game’s launch date. Essentially, they’re prioritizing quality over a specific release timeline, as Levine stated that they won’t provide a date until they’re completely confident it can be met, since the potential negative reactions to a delay aren’t worth the risk.
Levine shared that he can’t provide an exact release date just yet because they want to avoid any potential changes after announcing it. He explained that the game, Judas, isn’t truly complete until it’s in players’ hands – a day that everyone on the team is eagerly working towards.
We’re still unsure when exactly Judas will be released, but it seems like it could happen quite soon. It might even surprise us if it doesn’t hit the shelves within the next year. There’s a chance we might learn more about it at a future PlayStation State of Play event, but that’s still uncertain. Judas is an incredibly complex project, so it makes sense that it takes a lot of time to pull everything together. Furthermore, given its development timeline, it may actually be released before BioShock 4, despite both games starting production around the same time in the past.
Judas will release on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC in the future.
