The latest chapter of the Jujutsu Kaisen sequel has given fans an update on Nobara Kugisaki, a character many have been waiting to learn more about. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo takes place decades after the original series and focuses on a new group of Jujutsu Sorcerers. This sequel has greatly expanded the world, introducing elements like aliens, and as a result, familiar faces from the original series haven’t appeared much yet.
The new series, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, is cleverly incorporating characters from the original story, even though it takes place in a different time. The latest chapter does this with Nobara Kugisaki, finally giving fans an update on what happened to her after the events of Jujutsu Kaisen. However, the reveal isn’t what fans were hoping for – it’s not a return, but a recording that appears to have been made before she died.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Brings Back Nobara at Last

Chapter 13 of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo picks up after the events of the previous chapter, with Japan’s Jujutsu Sorcerers debating what to do with the Simurians following Cross’s shooting. They face a challenge to a duel and are still trying to find Yuji Itadori to enlist his help, but he remains missing. The chapter features an older Nobara recounting her last encounter with Yuji, and sharing a message for him, believing she may never see him again.
Nobara shares that after Hana Kurusu’s funeral, Yuji told her he wouldn’t attend any more. She notes that Yuji hasn’t changed at all since his fight with Sukuna, and hasn’t been able to achieve his wish of dying peacefully as he watches his friends grow old and pass away. While seeing Yuji reminds her of her own aging, she feels he’s even more troubled. She adds that this was the last time she saw him and hopes she can somehow tell him, “Don’t underestimate me, you idiot!”
What This Means for Nobara
The latest information about Nobara in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo sadly confirms some difficult news. It shows that many characters from the original series have passed away over the 80-year time skip, including some fan favorites we were hoping to see return. While it’s good to know Nobara has survived to this point, the fact that we only hear her voice in a recording suggests she won’t have a major role in the sequel, unlike Yuji.
It’s disappointing because Nobara was a very popular character in the original Jujutsu Kaisen, but she wasn’t featured much, as it seemed like she had died. If this was recorded before the most recent chapter aired, it’s unclear if Nobara is still alive. It’s just sad to see how things turned out after everything that happened in the series.
