Tom McKay, from Kingdom Come: Deliverance, has been thinking about what character he’d like to play in a possible Lord of the Rings video game, and he’s open to any role!
Tom McKay voiced Henry of Skalitz in the Kingdom Come: Deliverance games and was recently nominated for a BAFTA Games Award for his leading performance in 2026.
Rumors suggest that Warhorse Studios, the team behind the game Kingdom Come: Deliverance, might be working on a Lord of the Rings game. At a recent event, TopMob Gaming asked actor McKay which character he’d like to portray if Warhorse made a Middle-earth game.
There are plenty of possibilities,” he started. “Those stories have such well-developed and interesting characters. A character similar to Aragorn, for example, would be fantastic.
There are a lot of options, and honestly, if anyone even asked me to take on the role, I’d likely steer it away from being too similar to Henry. I enjoy playing a wide range of characters, and I’d prefer to explore something different.

Then, McKay surprised us by turning the tables and asking for our suggestions on which character he should portray in a Lord of the Rings game. We told him we’d love to see him play Pippin.
“Yeah, yeah!” he replied, I could definitely throw my hand in at that!”
Since the initial fan casting discussions, people have suggested many actors for roles like Bilbo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, and Saruman. However, the most frequently suggested choice has been Tom Bombadil.
Warhorse Studios’ Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was a huge success last year, selling over 5 million copies and winning numerous awards.
Fans of Kingdom Come: Deliverance might be disappointed to hear reports that the studio is now working on an open-world Lord of the Rings game. However, given the high quality of that franchise, this studio seems uniquely qualified to tackle such an ambitious project.
We just hope that, if it does come to pass, there’s a place in the Shire reserved just for Tom.

I’ve actually seen his writing on some of the biggest gaming sites too, like VideoGamer, GamesRadar+, PC Gamer, and PCGamesN. It’s always a great read!
