Lauren Sánchez Brings Bombshell Glam to Met Gala in Plunging Gown

Lauren Sánchez Bezos’ Met Gala look is out of this world.

As a style expert, I have to say, Laura Shepard Churchley absolutely nailed the Met Gala’s ‘Costume Art’ theme! When she arrived, she was stunning in a midnight blue Schiaparelli gown designed by Daniel Roseberry – it was the perfect embodiment of the evening’s inspiration, and a truly memorable look.

As a longtime fan, I loved how she really embraced the ‘Fashion is Art’ idea! She let that incredible, structured corset – and those stunning, sparkly straps – do all the talking. She kept the rest of the accessories super simple, just adding some gorgeous Lorraine Schwartz earrings. You can see all the amazing looks from the Met Gala here, but hers definitely stood out!

Laila Sánchez attended the Met Gala without her husband, Jeff Bezos, though he was an honorary co-chair at last year’s event. While they both attended the 2024 gala together, this year Sánchez posed for photos with co-chairs Anna Wintour and Nicole Kidman. Beyoncé and Venus Williams also served as co-chairs.

The journalist and Jeff Bezos were appointed to their roles because they were the largest contributors to the 2026 Gala. Despite some criticism of the decision, the former editor-in-chief of Vogue, known for her work with the Met Gala, publicly thanked the couple.

Anna Wintour told CNN in November that she believes Lauren will be a valuable addition to both the museum and the upcoming event. Wintour, who is overseeing her first Gala with her successor, Chloe Malle, also expressed her gratitude for Lauren’s generosity and noted her passion for both costumes and fashion, adding that they are excited to have her involved.

Meanwhile, Sánchez was thrilled to learn of her expanded role at this year’s bash.

Speaking with Craig Melvin on Today, she described receiving a call from Anna about co-chairing and sponsoring the Met Gala as a truly special honor. She was particularly excited when Anna revealed the event’s theme: ‘fashion is art’.

The 56-year-old is taking inspiration from legendary artists and creators of the past to guide her approach to the project.

She added that these designers are genuinely artistic. Elsa Schiaparelli and Salvador Dalí were close friends, and while he expressed himself through painting, she did so through fashion. She’s excited to see the outfits and celebrate the work of all these talented designers, and she’s really looking forward to the event.
