LEGO video games have been popular since the late 1990s. Though a game built around building blocks might seem unusual, many LEGO games are genuinely well-made, particularly those based on big franchises like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter. Fans are also excited about the upcoming LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. However, not all LEGO games have been successful, and one adventure game released in 2023 is soon to be removed from sale.
In 2023, Visual Concepts and 2K released LEGO 2K Drive, an open-world racing game and a LEGO-themed follow-up to the 2013 mobile game 2K Drive. While the game received mixed reactions from players and critics, it was also recognized for its creative open-world and humorous take on racing games. Now, 2K has announced that LEGO 2K Drive will no longer be available for purchase on any platform after May 19th, so if you’re interested, you only have a few days left to get it.
LEGO 2K Drive To Delist on All Platforms Ahead of Multiplayer Server Shutdown
LEGO 2K Drive will be removed from digital stores on May 19th, exactly three years after its initial release on May 19th, 2023. Notices about this change have been posted on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. The game is currently still available for purchase on all major consoles for $19.99 USD until it’s removed.
The game will be removed from digital stores, and its online servers will be turned off on May 31, 2027. If the date is correct, players who already own the game will have about a year left to play online. This gives them plenty of time to finish any online achievements or enjoy the game with friends before the servers are shut down.
Even though the online servers for LEGO 2K Drive will be turned off in May 2027, you’ll still be able to play the game by yourself. This means no more online racing or updates, but you can continue to explore the LEGO open world and enjoy the story mode. There’s a good amount of single-player content, so players who bought the game recently will still have plenty to do after the servers are shut down.

2K Games hasn’t explained why they’re removing the LEGO racing game. It’s likely the license for using the LEGO brand is expiring. Another possibility is that, even though the game initially sold well, not enough people are still playing to keep the online servers running. If you’re interested in trying LEGO 2K Drive, you only have a few days left to get it before it’s no longer available.
