TT Games promised to pack LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight with references to years of great Batman stories, and they’ve definitely delivered. But many were surprised to see the iconic museum scene from Tim Burton’s Batman—complete with Prince’s “Partyman” playing—recreated with such detail. You can see it for yourself in the video below.
In the 1989 film, the Joker, played by Jack Nicholson, invites his followers with the excuse of expanding their horizons, but really leads them on a spree of vandalism targeting valuable artwork. Although it doesn’t include a specific moment from the comics – where the Joker prevents another character from causing destruction – the energetic soundtrack by Prince and the rest of the chaotic scenes more than compensate for that missing piece.
Vicki Vale isn’t where they expect, as the Joker and his gang quickly escape. Batman and Catwoman then arrive to investigate, marking just one of the many shifts in location that will connect the events of TT Games’ latest story.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight arrives on May 29th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Nintendo Switch owners will be able to play it at a later date. The game takes inspiration from various Batman sources, including comic books, the movies The Dark Knight Rises and The Batman, and the Batman: Arkham video game series.
TT Games is pleased with the timing of their new release, as it avoids direct competition with the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6. You can find more information here.
