Prime Video is giving fans a sneak peek at its new young adult movies and series with the launch of Obsessed Fest.
As a big fan of Prime Video and their young adult shows like The Summer I Turned Pretty and Maxton Hall, I was so excited to see the first teaser for Obsessed Fest! They dropped it on Thursday, and it was exactly what I needed. The trailer showed snippets of everything coming soon, including the Legally Blonde prequel, Elle, plus shows like Off Campus, Every Year After, Sterling Point, The Devil’s Mouth, The Last Sunrise, Drawn Together, Your Fault: London, Clashing Through the Now, Perfectos Mentirosos, and even season 3 of Maxton Hall! I’m already counting down the days.
Tickets are now available for Obsessed Fest, a day-long event happening June 27th at nya Studios Los Angeles. The event brings the excitement of online YA fandom to life, letting fans celebrate their favorite books and creators in person. Obsessed Fest will showcase popular YA titles from Prime Video, offering attendees exclusive previews, a relaxing literary lounge, a content creation space, and opportunities to meet the casts and creators behind the stories they love.
Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios will feature Prime Book Club at Obsessed Fest. This program connects popular books with on-screen adaptations, and the festival marks the first time it will be showcased in person.
The most anticipated title revealed in Prime’s preview for Obsessed Fest is likely the film inspired by the popular ‘Reylo’ pairing.
Reylo is the name fans have given to the romantic connection between Rey (played by Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (played by Adam Driver) in the newer Star Wars films. The upcoming movie, inspired by Ali Hazelwood’s novel Head Over Feet, tells a story of rivals who become allies and eventually fall in love. Though rooted in a science-focused setting, the film centers on Olive Smith, a PhD student who impulsively kisses her professor, Adam Carlsen, to show herself she’s ready to date again. They decide to pretend to be a couple, but predictably, real feelings emerge and things become more complex.
With Sofia Reinhart and Tom Bateman in the lead roles, the movie adaptation of The Love Hypothesis already has a dedicated following, especially among fans of the ‘Reylo’ pairing. However, it’s also generating a lot of buzz on BookTok, and its popular cast is expected to attract a wider audience, including viewers who haven’t read the book or aren’t familiar with the Star Wars connection. Author Ali Hazelwood and Reinhart are both executive producers on the film, which is directed by Claire Scanlon and written by Sarah Rothschild. Currently, The Love Hypothesis is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video around June 10th.
Tickets for Obsessed Fest are on sale now.
