Madi Prewett Says She Lived in “Sexual Sin” During Teen Years

Madi Prewett is no longer hiding her past.

The reality TV personality shared a difficult experience from her teenage years, explaining she wrestled with strong sexual feelings that caused her to keep parts of her life hidden.

I first encountered pornography around age 13 or 14, and a friend was the one who introduced it to me. That really started a long and difficult struggle with both porn and masturbation. It ended up creating a lot of shame and secrecy in my life, things I kept hidden for a long time. I shared this with Candace Cameron Bure on her podcast recently.

I built my life around the idea of saving myself for marriage, believing it was what God wanted. From the outside, it seemed like I had it all together. But in private, I was leading a secret life filled with sexual sin that I kept hidden from everyone.

Madi, who married Grant Troutt in 2022, revealed she kept a difficult secret throughout high school. She finally confided in a friend while she was in college, which helped her deal with feelings of guilt and shame.

I didn’t truly admit my wrongdoing and deal with the resulting shame until I got to college,” she said. “That’s when I was finally able to overcome it and break the cycle of addiction.

She continued, explaining that she instantly felt a sense of relief. It was a feeling of liberation, the complete opposite of the deceitful thoughts that had been troubling her.

Madi, who shares her 13-month-old daughter Hosanna with Grant, realized it’s okay to be honest about what she wants after a conversation with a friend. The friend helped her understand that expressing her desires isn’t something to feel guilty about.

She explained to Candace that her experience taught her to quickly address any feelings of shame by admitting them, sharing them with a friend, and bringing them into the open. She still practices this approach today.

Madi first discussed her struggles with porn and masturbation back in June, noting it had been ten years since she began getting help.

Madi shared on her June 23rd podcast, Stay True, that she’s been free from pornography and masturbation for ten years, thanks to her faith and the support of her community. She described those habits as something that had previously controlled and deeply affected her life.

For Madi, working through her desires is a daily battle.

Even now, as a married woman, I have to make a conscious decision each day to avoid repeating past struggles with sexual addiction. It’s a daily commitment to resist harmful thoughts and feelings, whether they come from what I see online or from within myself. I refuse to let my desires control me.

Let me tell you, as a longtime listener of Chicks In the Office, Grace Ann really hit the nail on the head when she talked about visiting Brooks’s trailer. She said every single time she went near it, the whole thing would shake! Honestly, she admitted she was always hesitant to even knock, let alone go inside. It just sounded… unsettling, to say the least.
