As a longtime comic book fan, I’ve seen how Marvel and DC built the entire superhero world we know and love. They’ve given us generations of amazing characters and stories, even though they’re always competing with each other. Every so often, they’ll team up for a big crossover event, and we’re in the middle of one right now. But things just got huge. The powerful X-Man Storm has stumbled onto something incredible – proof that the Marvel and DC universes aren’t separate at all, but actually connected. Trust me, this isn’t just another team-up; this discovery changes everything for both companies, and for us fans!
The third issue of Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant, released last month, quietly revealed a surprising detail that many readers missed. This revelation actually changes our understanding of both the Marvel and DC universes. While Marvel and DC have been releasing crossover comics like Batman/Deadpool, Superman/Spider-Man, and Jeff!/Aquaman Infinity Comic, the information hidden within the Storm series is far more significant and impactful than any of those team-ups.
Marvel and DC are Now Multiversal Neighbors

Since becoming a goddess, Storm has faced increasingly dangerous challenges, traveling throughout the universe. In Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant #3, she encounters an enigmatic astronaut who turns out to be her mother, N’Dare Munroe, from another reality. N’Dare teleports herself and Storm to a bizarre world outside of the usual Marvel Multiverse to warn her about a coming crisis that could destroy everything. It’s on this distant, almost nonexistent world that they discover something truly groundbreaking.
When Storm and N’Dare reached the edge of the multiverse, they were immediately struck by a massive wall stretching as far as they could see. The wall was covered in carvings depicting huge, chained figures. Before they could even speak, a gigantic cosmic bird called the “Raptor” attacked. N’Dare quickly explained that if caught, the Raptor would turn them into stone blocks and add them to the wall. Fortunately, Storm and N’Dare managed to escape. Though the encounter was brief, lasting only a few pages, the purpose of the wall and the Raptor’s origins were immediately clear.
In DC Comics, the Source Wall is a massive barrier separating the entire multiverse from a mysterious, empty dimension. It’s essentially a prison for incredibly powerful cosmic beings, and is guarded by the Cosmic Raptor – a creature that looks and behaves just like the one seen attacking Storm and N’Dare. Similar to its counterpart in Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant #3, the Cosmic Raptor is immensely powerful and adds other powerful beings to the Source Wall, trapping them there forever. This suggests that what lies beyond the Source Wall is, in fact, the DC Multiverse.
This event is incredibly important. The Wall and the Raptor aren’t simply inspired by characters from DC Comics, and this isn’t a one-time, unofficial team-up. These elements – the Source Wall and the Cosmic Raptor – are now officially recognized as part of Marvel’s ongoing story. Essentially, Marvel has strongly implied that the DC universe exists alongside their own, with the Source Wall serving as the boundary between them. In all the years both companies have been creating comics, this is the first time they’ve established such a lasting connection.
Marvel and DC are in a Crossover Golden Age

The appearance of the Source Wall and the Cosmic Raptor in Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant #3 isn’t just a playful nod to fans—it represents the growing collaboration between Marvel and DC Comics. Beginning in November 2025, these two major publishers started working together to create several standalone stories that brilliantly combine characters from both universes.
Both Marvel and DC have been consistently successful with their limited-run, standalone comics that bring their heroes together. Rather than just focusing on simple battles or team-ups, these comics tell compelling, often funny, stories that highlight what each character does well – and where they struggle. The pairings are often brilliant, like Batman with Deadpool or Wonder Woman with Captain America, leading to interesting and insightful interactions. Even unexpected combinations, such as Supergirl and Blade or Jimmy Olsen and Carnage, can be surprisingly entertaining. Notably, the interactions between Spider-Man and Superman have been especially touching, offering a deeper look into their personalities and the challenges they face.
The brief appearance in Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant #3 perfectly highlights the success of this unique crossover period between Marvel and DC. It’s rare to see so many high-quality crossover comics released so close together. Plus, with the Source Wall now established at the edge of the Marvel Multiverse, future official crossovers are possible – potentially even the long-rumored “Secret Crisis,” which was first suggested in 2020’s Doomsday Clock by Doctor Manhattan. Even if that specific event doesn’t happen, DC has made a lasting impact on the Marvel Universe in a way no other publisher has before.
For years, Marvel and DC Comics have been seen as rivals, only occasionally acknowledging each other through unofficial team-ups or similar characters. Now, with the introduction of the Source Wall in their comics, Marvel has officially established a friendly connection with DC. Even if the characters never actually meet, the Source Wall represents their combined achievements and their dominance in the world of comic books and superheroes.
