The animated series X-Men ’97 is coming back to Disney+ next month, and critics are already loving the new season.
I’m so excited! The awesome revival of the classic ’90s X-Men cartoon is coming back for a second season on Disney+ on July 1st. It’s been over two years since we first got to see it, so I’ve been waiting ages!
Before its release, season 2 of X-Men ’97 has a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, this score might shift as more reviews come in and all episodes become available.
Critics have only seen the first four episodes of the new season, but initial responses indicate Marvel Animation has continued to deliver the same quality as the highly praised first season.
Okay, so the next season is going to jump right off where things left off after that crazy season one finale! You remember – the X-Men finally took down Bastion and saved Earth from Asteroid M… but in the process, they got completely flung across time. It’s gonna be wild seeing how they deal with that mess!
In Season 2, the team of mutants is scattered throughout time, each trying to return to the present day. Meanwhile, fresh threats arise in the 1990s while they’re gone.
The new trailer, called “Roll Call,” shows off the large number of mutants featured in the upcoming episodes, highlighting characters from all over the X-Men universe.
The preview showcases a large team of X-Men, including well-known characters like Professor X, Cyclops, Storm, and Wolverine, alongside others such as Cable, Forge, Bishop, Psylocke, Magneto, and even the powerful Apocalypse.
Okay, so the trailer really hints at some huge things coming up, especially if you’re familiar with the comics. It looks like Apocalypse is going to be a major player – and I mean major – after everything that happened at the end of last season. Get ready, folks, because this looks like it’s going to be epic!

Season 2’s voice actors feature Ross Marquand as Professor X, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Lenore Zann as Rogue, and George Buza as Beast.
X-Men ’97 season 2 will consist of nine episodes.
