In Season 2, Episode 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, it became clear that Mayor Fisk isn’t trying to take down Daredevil, the masked vigilante, but Matt Murdock, the man behind the mask. As viewers saw in Season 2, Episode 10 of the original Daredevil series on Netflix, and again in the Season 3 finale, Fisk already knew Matt Murdock was Daredevil. However, he deliberately chose not to expose Matt’s secret, saving that information for when it would be most strategically useful.
As a huge Daredevil fan, I was really hooked by Season 2, specifically Episode 2 of Born Again. With New York under Martial Law and Matt Murdock laying low, it made total sense that Mayor Fisk would try to expose Daredevil’s secret identity. His advisor, Buck Cashman, really pushed for it – basically, go public and tell everyone Matt Murdock is Daredevil. It felt like a smart, if ruthless, move to turn public opinion against him and finally take Daredevil down.
But Fisk quickly rejects the idea, pointing out that it wouldn’t look good considering Matt, who is blind, saved his life back in Season 1.
I refuse to give this nonsense any attention. It’s easy to portray Daredevil as a villain, but not Matt Murdock. He’s a blind man who saved my life, and I won’t let anyone believe otherwise. He literally saved my life.

As a huge MCU fan, I gotta say, Fisk’s latest move is brilliant – and seriously twisted. It’s not about some simple power play; it’s a masterclass in psychological warfare. He doesn’t even need to benefit directly from revealing Daredevil’s secret identity. He just wants to utterly destroy Matt Murdock’s life, all while maintaining a clean public image. It’s a bold strategy, and honestly, it really solidifies him as the best manipulator in the Marvel universe, in my opinion.

Because of Kingpin’s campaign against vigilantes, people are already wary of them. Revealing Daredevil is actually a blind lawyer—one who even risked his life for the mayor—makes the public feel sympathy for him instead of anger.
Fisk followed up with a public statement, presenting Matt as a hero and asking people to be on the lookout for him. This made it very difficult for Matt to remain hidden, and Fisk even said he wanted to help “bring this hero home.”
Fisk’s recent communication severely complicated Matt and Karen Page’s attempt to disappear, because the entire city is now searching for him.

With the entire city now searching for Matt, it’s become impossible for him to hide. His face is everywhere, making it too difficult to blend in.

Fisk’s decision demonstrates his skill at shaping public opinion, which is how he initially won the mayoral election. By keeping Daredevil’s identity secret, he maintains the threatening image of the masked hero, reinforcing his argument against vigilantes.
How Daredevil Born Again’s Latest Vanessa Twist Changes Everything

In Season 2, Episode 4 of Daredevil: Born Again, Wilson Fisk uses psychological tactics, specifically keeping Matt Murdock’s identity as Daredevil a secret, which pushes Matt further into loneliness. The episode dramatically shifts the situation when Vanessa Fisk’s life is put in danger, threatening to reveal Matt’s secret and destabilize everything.
After the intense battle between Daredevil and Wilson Fisk in the final episode of Daredevil Season 3, Matt Murdock used Vanessa’s safety as leverage to ensure Fisk would remain silent.
You’re going back to prison, where you’ll stay for the rest of your life, knowing you’ve lost everything – Vanessa, this city, everything. I’ve defeated you! You will keep my secret, and you won’t hurt Karen Page, Foggy Nelson, or anyone else. If you do, I will target your wife. (Fisk growls) And I’ll expose Vanessa’s involvement in Ray Nadeem’s murder, ensuring she spends the rest of her life in prison, just like her husband.
The surprising ending of Season 2, Episode 4 shifts the power balance. If Vanessa dies, Matt loses his ability to stop Fisk from exposing his secret identity.
Fueled by both intense sadness and anger, Fisk might destroy everything, even revealing Matt’s secret identity as Daredevil and twisting the story of his disappearance into something much more dangerous.
