Microsoft recently released the last Windows 11 security update for the year 2025 (KB5072033). This update includes several improvements and new features, such as enhancements to File Explorer and file sharing, better mobile device connectivity, and general quality of life upgrades.

One of the biggest improvements in this update is a more complete dark mode for File Explorer. It now extends to things like pop-up windows and messages that appear when you copy or delete files. Plus, you can now turn off the drag-and-drop share tray that shows up at the top of the screen when you move files in File Explorer.

Windows has been updated with a few quality-of-life improvements. The Search pane now fits the Start menu’s size, you can now quickly cycle through new backgrounds with Windows Spotlight, and compatible devices will provide subtle vibrations when you snap windows or drag files.

Today’s update includes several new features, and we’ve published a detailed article explaining them all. Keep in mind that, like with most Windows updates, these features are being released gradually, so you might not see everything immediately after updating.

Microsoft has announced a minor issue with the latest update: the “password” option on the login screen might not be visible. If you don’t see it, you can still select it by clicking in the area where it normally appears.

Throughout 2025, Microsoft consistently updated Windows 11 with new features and improvements, releasing changes almost every month. It remains to be seen if they’ll maintain this rapid pace of updates in 2026. What do you think of this approach?
