Mina the Hollower, which became a commercial success last month, is officially coming to PS5 on May 29th. The retro-inspired action adventure game will be available for only $19.99.
Yacht Club Games has been developing this game for a long time, ever since it was first revealed in 2022.
The game faced several delays, but was finally completed towards the end of last year. The developer of Shovel Knight has said the game’s success is crucial for their studio’s future, though we’re confident it will do well.
Here’s how the press release pitches the game:
Explore a thrilling and spooky world in Mina the Hollower! You play as Mina, a skilled adventurer on a dangerous quest to save a cursed island. Dig your way past traps and monsters, defeat enemies with your whip, and collect powerful weapons and items to help you along the way.
Okay, so I just started playing Mina the Hollower, and it’s seriously awesome. The graphics are really cool – super detailed pixel art. The gameplay is smooth and challenging, and the bosses? Forget about it, they’re tough! Plus, the music is super catchy. I’m meeting all kinds of weird and wonderful characters and exploring these crazy, beautiful places. Basically, I’m on a mission to lift this never-ending darkness over the world. And the best part? It’s made by the same team that made Shovel Knight, so you know it’s good!
A great demo was available for a limited time on the PlayStation Store earlier this year, but it’s no longer downloadable. We’re hoping the developers might release a more permanent demo before the full game comes out, and we’ll let you know if they do.
That’s all for now! We’re thrilled to announce that Mina the Hollower will finally be released soon, and we’re incredibly excited about it.
