A new free-to-play MMO with RPG features is now available on Steam. It’s currently unknown if the game runs well on the Steam Deck, but Steam Deck owners can try it out for free to see. However, early player reviews suggest the game isn’t worth the effort.
The mobile game Hotel Hideaway, originally released in 2018, is now available on Steam as Hotel Hideaway: Avatar & Chat. While it remains unavailable on consoles, the Steam version has received a “Mixed” rating, with only 67% of players giving it a positive review. Interestingly, most negative feedback isn’t about the gameplay itself, but the requirement to connect a Facebook account. This is a significant issue for many players, but it’s separate from the actual quality of the game.
About the Game
Hotel Hideaway is a 3D online game where you can create a character, design spaces, and collect unique items. Developed by Sulake Oy, it’s a social experience focused on interacting with other players through events and shared spaces.
One player described Hotel Hideaway as a unique social game that successfully combines creativity, a strong community, and appealing style for a genuinely enjoyable experience. They noted that the game immediately immerses you in a colorful world filled with interesting characters and plenty of chances to connect with people globally.
One user shared a mixed opinion, saying the game is enjoyable for socializing and customizing characters, but it has several problems. They noted that the community can be difficult, and the automated moderation isn’t always effective. They also mentioned that progress feels slow and requires a lot of repetitive gameplay to level up.
The game does offer in-app purchases, but you can absolutely enjoy it without spending any money. While buying things can speed up progress and improve your experience, many players report having a great time without ever paying.
With the recent launch on Steam bringing in new players, now is a great time to try out Hotel Hideaway if you’ve ever been interested in this social MMO.
