While Metro Awakening provided a fun VR experience, fans of the Metro series have been eagerly awaiting a full sequel. It looks like we might finally get an announcement about the next main installment next week, as it’s been in the works for some time.
AlexandreNGamR shared on Twitter that this development was anticipated. Although not a typical source for leaks, the information was confirmed by trusted insider NateTheHate, who simply stated, “It’s true.”
Okay, so this announcement just came completely out of the blue, right? It makes me wonder if it’s being saved for a bigger event, like the next State of Play. I’m hearing it might be happening around April 16th, and apparently, this one will be all about games from other developers – which is a big change, because the last State of Play had a lot of games made by PlayStation themselves.
The next Metro game could be announced separately from any upcoming showcase. There’s also been talk of a reveal for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced on April 16th. While it’s unclear if this will be part of the next State of Play, reports suggest a separate event later this month will share more details about the remake.
It’s still unclear if this new game is the same project previously known as Metro 4 (especially since they’re also working on a multiplayer mode). 4A Games has said the sequel will have a more intense and somber story than past Metro games, drawing inspiration from the war in Ukraine, and promising players a thrilling experience.
Fans of the Metro series, including myself, can expect an announcement of a new game next week.
