Okay, so Chinese games are really making a splash right now. We’ve seen some cool stuff like Black Myth: Wu Kong and Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, but honestly, I didn’t expect this latest one to blow up like it has. It’s a weirdly awesome mix – it’s got the freedom of an open-world RPG, feels kinda like an MMO with tons of players running around, and the combat is super challenging, like a Soulslike. It’s a really unique experiment, and it’s actually become one of the most popular games out there! What’s even more surprising is that it’s not a typical multiplayer shooter like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Battlefield 6, or Arc Raiders. It’s doing all this without relying on just being a straight-up multiplayer experience, which is seriously impressive.
I can’t believe how huge Where Winds Meet has become! The developers just announced that 15 million people are already playing, and get this – that happened in just one month! It’s incredible to see so many people enjoying it on PlayStation 5, Steam, the Epic Games Store, and even on our phones with Android and iOS.
Everstone Studio has launched a significant update for Where Winds Meet, bringing the game to version 1.1. They’ve also hinted at a major expansion coming in 2026. These moves demonstrate Everstone Studio’s commitment to supporting the game, and early player numbers suggest a promising future for this open-world RPG.
While the game’s free-to-play model certainly helped it gain traction – making it easy for anyone to try – that’s not the whole story. Lots of free games don’t become popular, or even reach this level of success, even after being out for years. Its popularity is noteworthy and can’t be solely attributed to being free.
Over 15 million players have now entered the world of Jianghu! We’re incredibly grateful for everyone who has joined us, shared their adventures, and helped create amazing stories together. Thank you for playing!

Players and critics have largely loved Where Winds Meet for its immersive world and engaging gameplay. While the story hasn’t resonated with everyone – which is common for online games like this – the biggest issues have been performance and bugs on the PlayStation 5. Fortunately, Everstone Studio is already working on fixes and updates to address these problems.
Over the past few years, gaming has come full circle, with a renewed focus on single-player experiences. For a while, online multiplayer games were all the rage, but now we’re seeing a big comeback for games with strong stories you play on your own. While single-player games never truly disappeared, they took a backseat to online shooters. Some games are successfully blending both worlds, offering online features alongside a compelling single-player story, which leads to strong sales and large player bases.
