As a huge Ratchet & Clank fan, I was so excited to hear about a new game! But honestly, it’s not quite what I was expecting. After Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart blew us all away as one of the first big PS5 exclusives back in 2021, Insomniac Games shifted their focus to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and now Marvel’s Wolverine. It felt like we wouldn’t be back with Ratchet & Clank for a while, and while this new project will fill that gap, it’s definitely a surprise!
A new mobile game called Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble was revealed today with its first trailer. Developed by Insomniac and Oh BiBi, the game is a multiplayer arena shooter where characters from the Ratchet & Clank universe fight each other in different game modes, all hosted by Captain Qwark. Even though it’s designed for mobile devices, Ranger Rumble will include many of the famous weapons from the Ratchet & Clank series, plus lots of options to customize your character.
You can get a look at Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble for yourself in its first trailer here:
Get ready for Ranger Rumble, the latest installment in the Ratchet & Clank universe! This fast-paced arena shooter brings the franchise’s signature humor, explosive weapons, and over-the-top action to a new real-time multiplayer experience. You can play as a legendary hero with special abilities, either on your own or with friends online. With gameplay designed for all skill levels, Ranger Rumble offers thrilling multiplayer action for everyone.
It’s a little disappointing we haven’t seen a new, full-scale Ratchet & Clank game yet, but Ranger Rumble isn’t meant to be a replacement for those. It’s PlayStation’s attempt to expand into mobile gaming. It’s still too early to tell if Ranger Rumble will be a hit, but it’s definitely worth watching.
Currently, there’s no confirmed release date for Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, but it’s expected to launch soon. If you’re interested, you can sign up for updates and pre-register on the official website.
