Although progress on the next James Bond movie is happening – with producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman, director Denis Villeneuve, and screenwriter Steven Knight all confirmed – fans are still eager to find out who will be cast as the new Bond.
After Daniel Craig finished his run as James Bond with the 2021 film No Time to Die, the search for a new actor to take on the role is now officially beginning.
Amazon MGM Studios has announced they’re beginning the search for the next James Bond. They won’t be sharing details about who’s being considered right now, but promise to update fans as soon as they can.
According to Variety, auditions have been underway for several weeks, and casting director Nina Gold is leading the search.

Gold didn’t respond to questions about the project, but someone familiar with its development confirmed that she was involved.
Gold is a highly respected casting director with a long list of successful projects. She’s worked on popular series like Game of Thrones and The Crown, and films including Les Misérables, The Martian, and several Star Wars movies, among others.
This will be the first James Bond actor chosen for a film without the involvement of Debbie McWilliams, the casting director who previously selected Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig.

In 2025, McWilliams announced to Screen Daily that he was retiring from casting and pursuing other work in the film industry.
During a presentation at CinemaCon last month, Courtenay Valenti, head of film at Amazon MGM Studios, described the upcoming Bond film as a project with the potential to live up to the franchise’s history. She highlighted the combination of the iconic Bond series with a talented creative team – director Denis Villeneuve, producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman, executive producer Tanya Lapointe, and screenwriter Steven Knight – as the key to its success.
