Nicole Kidman & Sunday Rose Reveal Meaning Behind Their Met Gala Looks

Nicole Kidman and daughter Sunday Rose‘s2026 Met Gala looks were to die for, by utmost intention.

Speaking with Vogue outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Nicole, a co-chair of the May 4th event alongside Anna Wintour, Beyoncé, and Venus Williams, explained her fashion choice. “I chose red to celebrate how the color has been used throughout art history,” she said. The Met Gala 2026’s theme was “Fashion Is Art,” inspiring all the creative looks.

Hence the Practical Magic star slaying in a red sequined Chanel gown trimmed with feathers.

She added that it’s a powerful representation of love – a love that’s passionate, full of life, and embodies both strength and the experience of motherhood.

She glanced at her date, Sunday Rose, who was only 17. Somehow, Sunday was allowed to attend the Met Gala, even though the event normally requires guests to be 18 or older.

Pointing to her daughter, who was wearing a pink dress with flower details and similar feathers to her own, Nicole said, “And here’s my blossoming springtime girl.”

“I wanted my look to represent something blossoming,” said Sunday Rose, whose dress and earrings seemed vibrant and lifelike. “This is my first time at the Met Gala.”

Sunday concurred with a nod.

“Keeping it real,” Nicole quipped.

Both Nicole and her mother have long hair with middle parts, styled by Nicole’s regular stylist, Jason Bolden.

This could be the first Met Gala for Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s oldest daughter. However, Nicole herself has been going to the Met Gala since 2003, and this year marks her third time helping to host the event.

Last year, she turned heads in a striking black Balenciaga gown, accessorized with gloves and blue crystal jewelry. The outfit perfectly fit the event’s theme, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,’ and its ‘Tailored for You’ dress code.

In March, Nicole shared on the podcast Las Culturistas how thrilled she was to attend an event and enjoy it with her fashion-loving daughter.

As for the 58-year-old, “I just get to be there for Beyoncé.”
