In Ninja Gaiden 4, players can expect a highly anticipated comeback of the series’ swift hack-and-slash gameplay; however, its $69.99 price tag raises some concerns regarding its worth. According to a recent preview and interview with Next-Play, Team Ninja’s director Masazaku Hirayama disclosed that completing the story mode from start to finish would roughly take between 15 to 20 hours.
To add on to what I said earlier, once you finish the game, you’ll gain access to Master Ninja difficulty. Additionally, beyond the story mode, there are challenge missions and chapter challenges available as well. This means that there will be plenty of content for players to explore after they finish their initial playthrough.
In these games, you’ll encounter challenges similar to Purgatory or Tests of Valor, which occur at various points within each chapter and require additional effort. Interestingly, before engaging in these battles, you’ll need to stake something significant, like your maximum health. As Yosuke Hirayama explained, this element is a development from the Tests of Valor found in earlier Ninja Gaiden games. The innovation lies in allowing players to decide the level of risk they’re willing to take for potential rewards, thereby heightening the sense of challenge.
Additionally, there are Challenge Missions that allow you to re-face storyline bosses for a rank reward. For those seeking an even greater challenge, opt for “Death Wish” mode which disables any upgrades during combat. Furthermore, Hirayama hinted at missions beyond simple boss battles; these involve taking down groups of enemies under unique conditions not encountered in the main game storyline.
The highly anticipated game, Ninja Gaiden 4, is set to release on October 12th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms. After its launch, players will have access to additional DLC featuring new weapons for the protagonist Ryu Hayabusa. Further details about other content will be unveiled in the upcoming months.
