A Nintendo Switch Online membership offers several benefits, like playing many Nintendo games online. Besides features such as voice chat, subscribers also receive free extras. Many members enjoy access to classic games, but Nintendo also regularly releases new, exclusive free items. Recently, they’ve added a set of free profile icons to celebrate the launch of the popular life simulation game, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream.
The popular game Tomodachi Life has launched today, and Nintendo is celebrating with free gifts for players! Similar to what they did with Pokemon Pokopia, they’ll be releasing new profile icon items in four waves, one each week. You can use these items to create a unique profile icon and show your enthusiasm for the quirky Tomodachi Life world. The first set of icons is available now until April 22nd, and new sets will be released weekly through May 13th.
How to Claim Your Free Tomodachi Life Icons in Nintendo Switch Online
With any Nintendo Switch Online membership, you can collect Platinum Points by doing things you already enjoy – like playing and buying games, and completing in-game challenges. These points can be redeemed for both digital and physical rewards in the NSO shop. Right now, you can even use them to get special custom icons inspired by the new Tomodachi Life game!
We’ll be releasing profile icons in four sets, with each set available for one week. The first set is inspired by Tomodachi Life and includes these items:
- 10 “Characters” with items like speech bubbles and specific foods from the game
- 5 colorful backgrounds modeled after the game’s personality types
- 5 profile frames with similar colors to the backgrounds
These items will be available until April 22nd, when we release the next update. After that, we’ll add new icons every week until May 13th. You have roughly a month to customize your Nintendo Switch Online profile with a Tomodachi Life theme using these fun icon pieces.
You can find and use your rewards by going to the Nintendo Switch Online section on your Nintendo Switch or Switch 2. From there, select Missions and Rewards, then find the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream area. You’ll be able to see and redeem the items you’ve earned. Each character costs 10 Platinum Points, and backgrounds and frames are 5 Platinum Points each.
If you’re not a fan of the Tomodachi Life profile theme, Nintendo Switch Online currently offers other icon rewards. You can still earn icons from the Super Mario Galaxy series through May 6th, with new sets released weekly. Plus, there’s a collection of Animal Crossing: New Horizons icons celebrating villagers with April birthdays, available until May 4th. Playing the game itself unlocks even more rewards!
