Being a Shogun in the Nioh games is always challenging, and Nioh 3 puts you right in the middle of the struggle as Tokugawa Takechiyo. After being betrayed by his brother, Kunimatsu, Takechiyo is sent through time to cleanse dangerous demonic forces appearing in different historical periods. Koei Tecmo recently released a detailed 17-minute gameplay video to show players what this experience is like.
The game begins in the same location as the initial demo, but soon takes players to diverse environments like the icy Heien Era and the Bakumatsu period. Throughout the game, players will encounter and battle fallen heroes who have been consumed by darkness. To cleanse these areas, players must defeat these corrupted figures, but careful preparation is essential. Luckily, the surrounding lands are filled with monsters to fight, valuable items to find, and power-ups to collect.
As a fan, I have to say the gameplay really lets you shine with Nioh 3’s combat system. Being able to switch instantly between a Samurai style – perfect for up-close fighting – and a Ninja style, with all its cool ninjutsu and Izuna Drops, is just awesome. There are some moves I’ve been loving too, like being able to quickly go underground and reappear – it’s a lifesaver for dodging attacks or sneaking up on enemies!
Get ready for the launch of Nioh 3 on February 6th for PlayStation 5 and PC – we’ve got all the info you need. Before that, a free demo with online co-op will be available on January 29th for both platforms, and you can even carry your progress over to the full game!
