Bob Odenkirk, known for his roles in hit shows like ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Better Call Saul’, surprised audiences with his action-focused turn in ‘Nobody’ and its follow-up. His new film, ‘Normal’ – which he co-wrote – continues this unexpected direction. In the movie, Odenkirk plays Ulysses, a sheriff temporarily assigned to the quiet town of Normal while they search for a permanent replacement. He describes the town as having ‘good people, small problems,’ but this new job also serves as a way for him to cope with a painful event from his past that keeps him awake at night.

He often took his enthusiastic deputy on the least demanding calls – mostly dealing with neighbor disagreements and casual conversations with the town mayor, Henry Winker, and a woman who ran the local bar, Lena Headey. However, a nagging feeling that something was amiss had lingered ever since the previous sheriff was discovered dead – found face down in the snow, still wearing his pants and clutching a fishing rod.

When a bank robbery happens in town, things quickly become dangerous, especially after a ruthless Yakuza gang gets involved. Given that Derek Kolstad, who wrote the John Wick movies, is also a writer on this project, it’s no surprise that the action is intense and the violence escalates rapidly.

British director Ben Wheatley, known for films like ‘Free Fire’, returns to his roots with this new action thriller after directing the blockbuster ‘The Meg 2’. Like the previous work of the writers, it’s a fast-paced and thrilling 90 minutes filled with intense action.
