The world is still reeling after the shocking death of Oliver Tree.
Following the death of the 32-year-old in a helicopter crash in Brazil on June 14th, fans began sharing clips from his recent interviews. One interview, recorded just two months prior to his passing, featured him talking about his will and future plans.
He explained on the April 24th episode of the Zach Sang Show that he doesn’t consider any of his wealth or earnings to be truly his own. Because of this, he’s arranged in his will that his family won’t inherit any money when he dies.
Tree explained that if he were to have a family, he’d ensure his children could afford college. However, he wouldn’t spoil them, noting that his father had made some smart investments in the 2000s which would allow him to provide for them.
Rather than simply dividing his money, the artist behind “Miss You” had a bigger plan for his estate after he passed away.
Tree explained that he wants all of his money to go to artists after he passes away. To make this happen, he’s created a foundation called Dr. Oliver Tree’s Art Grants for Baby Geniuses. The foundation will be funded primarily by the royalties from his music, but also by any future increase in the value of his artwork – which he believes will likely appreciate over time.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash and have requested a thorough examination of the scene, CNN Brazil reported.
Following the tragic accident, Zach Sang, too, reflected on filming the podcast episode with Tree.
He believed people wouldn’t fully appreciate his work – his videos or music – until after he was gone. He felt that recognition often comes too late, but that his creations would continue to generate income regardless.
Looking back, Tree’s interview is sadly predictive of the tragedy that followed. Just under two months later, Tree died in a helicopter collision along with five others: Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim (known online as Gaspi), Lucas Brito Chaves, and pilots Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac. The crash occurred while the helicopters were flying over a vehicle yard in southwest Rio de Janeiro.

Police are investigating what caused the crash, CNN Brazil reported. Investigators have also asked for a thorough examination of the accident site.
Following the tragic accident, Zach Sang, too, reflected on filming the podcast episode with Tree.
He shared on Instagram on June 14th that he was having trouble with the news, writing, “This is hard to process.” They had recently spent time together just a few weeks prior. He described Oliver as unique and thanked him for all the joy, stories, and creativity he brought into his life.
He concluded, “Rest in peace my friend.”
