A popular Ubisoft game, Far Cry 3, is getting a new update and will be rereleased on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X – 14 years after it first came out! When people think of classic Ubisoft titles, games like Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Assassin’s Creed 2, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time are often mentioned. Far Cry 3 is also a standout, widely considered the best game in the Far Cry series, which is Ubisoft’s second most successful franchise after Assassin’s Creed.
It’s been 14 years since Ubisoft released Far Cry 3, and many players who revisit it find that the story and gameplay are still enjoyable. While the graphics are starting to show their age, the 2018 Classic Edition included updates that help. Now, it seems Ubisoft is planning another update to bring the game up to modern standards.
New Tease From Ubisoft
A fan on X (formerly Twitter) recently asked about a potential 60 FPS update for Far Cry 3 Classic Edition and Blood Dragon. The official Far Cry account responded with a smirking image, suggesting an update may be in development.

This isn’t a definite announcement of a new Far Cry 3 update, but it’s the closest we’ll likely get from Ubisoft without an official confirmation. If they are working on Far Cry 3, it makes you wonder: what about Far Cry 7?
I’m really excited about the possibility of Far Cry 7! Last year, some images supposedly leaked, but Ubisoft hasn’t officially said anything about it yet. There’s been a lot of talk about when it might come out – some people are saying 2026, others 2027. But it sounds like we might be getting some official news soon, and this recent little hint makes me think a 2027 release is more likely. As a Far Cry fan, I’m just hoping we get an update soon to hold us over!
