Hey everyone, I just saw a new trailer for Orbitals, the co-op action adventure game, and it looks awesome! Shapefarm, the developers, really showed off what the gameplay is like this time. They dropped the trailer during the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, so if you missed it, definitely check it out below!
I’m really excited about how teamwork seems to be a big part of Orbitals! It looks like you’ll have a bunch of cool gadgets to help each other out. I’ve seen the Scraphook, which lets you move platforms so your teammate can jump over tricky gaps – that’s awesome! Then there’s the Liquid Launcher, which isn’t just for attacking, but also for solving puzzles, like activating switches or cooling things down. And if you need to blast through something, the Beam Cannon looks like the way to go – perfect for opening doors or clearing a path for you and your partner, Maki and Omura!
The trailer showed off some of the fun things Maki and Omura can do in the game, such as finding and making friends with cute creatures, or relaxing back at base and playing music. There’s even a cooperative arcade game where you can play a top-down shooter with a friend.
Okay, so the game Orbitals starts with this research station getting completely wrecked. Now, fifteen years later, I’m playing as either Maki or Omura – both of us were lucky enough to survive the initial disaster. But now there’s another huge cosmic storm coming, and we have to travel across space to find a way to survive it. It’s basically a race against time and the elements!
I’m super excited for Orbitals! It’s launching this summer, and it’s a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. The coolest part is it’ll have GameShare, letting me play with friends both in the same room and online. Though, it looks like the Switch 2 player has to start the GameShare session. I first saw a trailer for it way back in December, and I’ve been counting down the days ever since!
